Chapter 33.

ROSE P.O.V.

By evening I was ready in my dress that Sahara gifted me today. It was not so fashionable and revealing and I'm glad about it. I kept my hair in big loose curls and applied some pink lip gloss. Adrien will be here any time soon, I haven't seen my 'Vampire friend' today, maybe he forgot me...?

Peep peep!!

This must be the sound of Adrien's car, I looked outside from my window and saw Adrien waiting for me inside his car. I looked at myself one last time and went outside. Adrien came out of his car and stared at me with his mouth opened slightly, he was wearing a navy blue t-shirt with blue jeans, casual also never looked casual on him. I cleared my throat and said, "Stop looking at me like that!!"

"Umm...you look... adorable." he stuttered, I blushed and stepped beside him. 

"How do I look?" he asked, turning in a circle.

I decided to tease him since he's been ghosting me the whole week, "Eh...it's okay." I said making a face.

He snorted, "Okay?" 

I shrugged my shoulder and replied, "yeah."

"I've seen you dress better-" I couldn't finish my sentence because he started tickling my waist and I laughed.

"Hey! I could have fallen." I yelled.

"Stop being a baby," he said grinning. When he didn't let me go I gave him a questionable look, "Say I look dashing," he chuckled showing his white teeth.

I gave a sly grin and replied, "Nope."

"Say it, or," he put his hands on the side of my stomach tickling me again, "I won't stop."

"Fine, Adrien, you look handsome." I rolled my eyes as I continued to laugh. He opened his car door for me, I got inside the car and then he too came inside. 

"Where are we going?" was my first question to which Adrien replied, "To a party."

"A party? Why?" I didn't want a party!

"Chill, Rose." That was all that he said and went silent. I was mad at him for not telling me about the party.

After an hour

Twilight paints the dusty road as Adrien halts the car at the outskirts of the city. We got out of the car and grabbed my wrist and said, "Come with me."

In front of me was a large house with an open glass front. It is surrounded by the plants and trees that are blossoming despite the season, green clearing lit up by the old fashioned street lanterns.

"Oh. My. God." I whispered almost to myself, my eyes drinking in the beauty before me. The ground was already filled with people- mostly our class students, many of them congregated around the pool which is located to the side.

As I was looking around something drew my attention, a pair of eyes looking at me- Grace, Renee, and Violet. 

"Happy Birthday!!, Rose." I heard a squeal and Renee came running up throwing her arms around me and her chest crushed into mine, making me go off balance, but I caught myself in time.

"Uh, thanks, Renee," I said, not knowing what else to tell her.

"Let her breathe, at least." Violet smacked Renee's arm playfully. She pulled away, her eyes looking at my outfit from up to down. "You look hawt!!" she said while fanning herself with her right hand. 

Adrien went into a conversation with Renee and I saw a few of my classmates show up. I said hi and hugged them as they wished me a happy birthday.

"Hey, Rose," said someone, I turned around and saw Zain holding hands with Grace, "Happy birthday! You look pretty." he pulled me into a hug.

"Thank you. You're strong..." I said chuckling as I hugged him back, he had strong built broad football shoulders and his arms were big with muscles. I then hugged Grace and we all chatted for a while.

I looked at everyone, their face bright with happiness but still I wasn't happy inside- the emptiness is always there; I consider myself decent at hiding it, masking it with normal human emotions. No one will ever ask me, why I'm smiling, it hides my inner emotions. Lorenzo was all over my heart and mind, it was getting dark and I hope he'll be here soon.

I tried to get off my mind by dancing with Adrien, but my mind never left thinking about Lorenzo. 

I was dancing with Adrien, my arms wrapped around his neck and his hands were on my waist. "I'll be right back-" he said and went somewhere. I looked around and saw all the couples dancing, the song, 'Us' by James bay was playing in the background.

After the wreckage

I still hear the howling, I still feel the rush
Over the riots, above all the noise
Through all the worry, I still hear your voice

I closed my eyes and was met by an image of me resting my head on Lorenzo's shoulder as he read a book for me. I hastily opened my eyes and blinked again and again but didn't see anything...what was that?

Adrien came back with a box in his hands, I guess it was a gift. "Take it." He handed it to me, I looked at the gift box wrapped with white paper and black satin, and then in calligraphy, there was something written on it, it was SHMILY.

"Adrien, what's SHMILY?"
