She stayed like that until sleep consumed her, because apparently even tears have a limit.

"Ehm, miss?" A doctor said, catching Katya's attention as she jolted up from Trixie's bedside. She mumbled a "sorry" and moved back to let him examine her. After a few minutes, which to Katya felt like a lifetime in hell, the doctor turned to the anxious blonde.
"All things considered, she's doing as well as I could hope for. I wouldn't want to give you any false hope but if things go as they have until now, she'll probably be awake by the end of today." He said, seeming quite confident in his words.
Katya let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. She knew that nothing was definite but his words made her calm down a bit.
"Thank you. Thank you so much for saving her." She said, giving the doctor a grateful smile. He nodded and returned the smile, telling her he was just doing his job.
After that the doctor left. Katya was left alone with Trixie once again.
She sighed as she stretched. Sitting without moving for a long period of time was hard enough. Doing it while your girlfriend was laying unconscious on a hospital bed was harder, to say the least.
She paced around the room, thinking about the new information she got from the doctor. Trixie would wake up today. Probably. Katya called the nurse to Trixie's room.
"Sorry to bother you but I needed to ask if it would be okay to leave the room for a few minutes? I want to go buy her some things for when she wakes up." She asked the nurse.
The nurse looked at Katya for a few seconds before laughing.
"Of course it's fine! God, even parents are less reluctant to leave their child alone for a bit. And I doubt she's your daughter." The elderly nurse chuckled.
"Don't worry she's safe, the machine she's hooked up to will let us know if anything changes." She reassured the Russian.
Katya still didn't want to leave Trixie, but she trusted the nurse enough to go for a little while.
She practically ran to the hospital's shopping centre, not wanting to waste any time. She quickly picked up a bunch of Trixie's favourite chocolates, alongside with balloons and a cinnamon roll. She then stopped by a different shop to buy her a lily bouquet.
Once she paid for it, she ran back to Trixie's room. Waiting for the stupidly slow hospital lifts never felt so painful.

Katya was about to go into Trixie's room when the nurse from before stopped her.
"The girl's family came by. I guess the other nurses did manage to find their contact info in miss Mattel's medical records. I thought i'd tell you before letting you go back inside." The nurse said, giving Katya a sympathetic smile.
The Russian thanked her before entering the room, gifts in hand.
Trixie was still unconscious. Sitting next to her, Katya saw a woman and a guy that looked awfully familiar.
Brad.
They both glared at Katya as she came in.
"What are you doing here?" Brad spat.
"Staying with my girlfriend. What are you doing here? Were you waiting for an accident to happen to contact your daughter?" She sassed. Katya knew Trixie's story all too well. She knew how her step father treated the women in his life. He made Trixie's life a living hell.
Katya ignored the dirty looks the couple sent her, placing the gifts on Trixie's bedside table.

The atmosphere in the room was beyond uncomfortable. The tension could be cut by a knife. Katya was low-key furious that they had the nerve to show up. As if they cared about Trixie. She didn't know what their motive was, but she'd never let Trixie's mother or shitty stepfather hurt her beloved partner.
Eventually Katya sighed, deciding it would probably be bad to fight Trixie's parents while she's unconscious.
"I'll be outside. Call me immediately when she wakes up." She said. In all honesty, five more minutes in there and she would've punched Brad's stupid face.

Katya went outside to the Hospital's garden. She sat on the floor by the pond, staring at it's green water. The loud sound of frogs made her feel calm. Katya always liked nature. She wanted to take Trixie on long trips and hikes. To get away from the city buzz. Just the two of them. Cuddling by a fire in the middle of nowhere, sharing sweet kisses and talking about anything. It sounded better than a dream. Katya smiled at the idea, making a mental note to ask Trixie about it when they get back home. Just imagining her in pink hiking boots, with her long hair up in a ponytail brought a smile to Katya's lips.

"Did you see any frogs?" A soft voice asked, Katya however was so deep in thought that it made her jump in surprise.
"Huh?" Was all she managed to say. She turned her head to the owner of the voice. It was a little girl. She looked to be no more than 5 or 6.
"Frogs! I come here every day to see them, but they only come out sometimes." She explained, taking a seat next to Katya.
"Oh. Well I haven't seen one yet but I think that if we stay here long enough we'll eventually spot one." Katya said, looking down at the girl. She had honey brown hair and huge green eyes. She was dressed in a way that oddly reminded her of Trixie, all pink with little white trainers. Katya usually disliked children, but she thought the girl was adorable.

"Oh okay, let's wait together then. What's your name?" The girl questioned, not looking away from the pond.

"Katya. What's yours?"

"Lydia, but most people just call me Lia."

"That's a pretty name."

"Thanks, I really like your name too!" Lia flashed a smile, making Katya giggle at her missing teeth.

"So why are you here? You don't look very sick to me." Lia asked after a moment of silence.

"You don't look very sick to me either."

"I asked first."

"Fair enough. I'm waiting for someone I care about very much to wake up, she got into a car accident."

"Oh. I hope she wakes up soon. What's she like?"

"Well, she's the most amazing person I've ever met. She looks like a life size barbie, her favourite colour is pink, just like your dress. She has more kindness in her heart than anyone I know. I'm sure you'd love her if you met her." Katya said, smiling as she described the woman she loves to a random little girl she had just met.

"She sounds like a princess!" Lia giggled.

"She kind of is. My princess.
Anyway, why are you here?"

"My mommy is sick, the nice nurse told me it was cancer. So i'm waiting for mommy to get better. It can get pretty boring in her room though, so when she's asleep I come here to look at the frogs." Lia said. Katya couldn't see any trace of sadness on her face despite how tragic her situation is. Katya felt a bit sorry for the girl, she was so innocent. Not a doubt in her mind that her mother would get better. However, at the same time Katya envied her. She wished she could just believe with all her heart that Trixie would wake up. No doubts or fears, only pure belief in the best case scenario.

"Then I hope your mother gets well soon because she sure is missing out on all this froggy goodness." Katya said, smiling in attempt to cheer up the girl. She pointed at a frog that was sitting on a Lily pad.
Lia gasped, instantly grinning as she saw the small frog.
"I knew we'd get to see one!" She cheered quietly, careful not to scare away the frog.
Katya smiled fondly at the little girl, finding it cute how excited she got over a frog.
"Worth the wait, huh?"

"Absolutely."
