A few months later
I was pretty much healed by now. I'd gone to therapy and both my son and my beautiful wife took care of me through it all. We spent a lot of time together. Whether it was watching tv, taking our son to school or just talking to her belly, we remained inseparable. Her belly wasn't showing to much which was good, because the wedding was approaching in a few days and we wouldn't be able to tailor the dress anymore. We were in the middle of watching a movie, but she had already fallen asleep. We had tucked Chase in bed before so, I didn't need to worry about him. I slowly turned off the TV and carried her to our bedroom.
Valerie's POV
As I wake up late in the morning, I notice that Nate is no longer at my side. I quickly wash up and head to our closet. Once opened, a letter falls out with my name on it
From the one you love and who loves you back. Get dressed and follow this hunt to discover your treasure. But before the hunt can begin, make sure to engulf in some pleasure.
The first thing that caught my eyes as I looked inside our closet was this beautiful floral themed ball gown.
"What's he planning? I'm going to look so stupid in this all day. At least It's pretty." I say to myself.
I quickly get changed and head to the kitchen, where breakfast is prepared as expected with another.
You look beautiful and that is true, but with a bit of a touch up and you'll be halfway there. Where you may ask? Well you will soon discover that.
I go against myself and decide not to question it. Instead I enjoy my breakfast taking my time before I head down to the parlour nearby. In the middle of breakfast, I realise I felt very lonely and decided to make a call to my mother.
"Sorry honey, Nate's mother brought me shopping with her along with Chase and there's no way out." My mother said and knowing, I did not question it any further. I knew all my brothers were working so I called Leah. We haven't been able to hang out as much because both our schedules are always filled.
"I'm so sorry, but I'm heading to Japan for a meeting. My flight takes off in an hour, I have to go." She says before quickly hanging up. Knowing I won't be able to call anyone else, I finish my food and head out.
As I walked the streets to my destination, I recieved a lot of stares in awe. At least that's what I hope. If this present is not as good as he's making it out to be, he is so sleeping on the couch. As I walk in, the people seemed to have expected me since they quickly brought me to a room and told me to change into a robe they provided. Once changed, they quickly sat me down and got to work without being told what I wanted. They had placed a facemask on me and added some cucumbers pieces to my eyes and told me to stay calm and let them do what they were told to do. My hair was washed trimmed and styled. They had also given me a manicure, a pedicure and had put makeup on my face. They had told me that once I changed back into the dress, would they reveal the final look to me and so I quickly got changed and went to look at myself at the first mirror I found. I was speechless at how beautiful I felt today and I was getting even more excited for the final surprise. I soon returned back to reality and one of the lady workers handed me another envelope.
For the safety of my beloved, this part you need not to search. There will be a car labeled for my love. Enter it and he shall bring you to your treasure, well in the evening that is.
Not expecting anything less from my husband, I head out to see that it was already pretty late, but there still remained a few hours before that so I wondered what he was planning to do. At the front of the parlour there was a chauffeur holding a card that say for my love and I quickly get on hoping that not all eyes are on me.
"Mr. Winston had informed me to tell you to look out your window towards the right through the entire car ride." The chauffeur says and I comply. We pass multiple houses and trees and nothing catches my eye, which makes me wonder what is going on. Soon we arrive in front of a pond and the car stops.
"I was told to stop here and hand you this." The chauffeur says before handing me a new envelope.
You're so close, but not there yet. Look up at the sky to recieve another gift.
As I exit the car, I head towards the fountain and stare up at the sky waiting. In a matter of seconds, an explosion occurs and the sky is covered in bright colours. After a few burst out, something forms in the midst. Once it's completed, it writes out,
Marry me again
I read looking completely stunned before looking back down to a little girl pulling my dress who hands me a bouquet and who I believe is her sister standing next to her, hands me another letter.
Even if the answer is no, it does not change the fact that we are a duo. Soon you'll arrive to your final surprise.
As am told, I head back to the car and await the final destination.
We arrived in front of a lodge and I was feeling the jitters now. As I walk closer to the entrance, Leah, Carie, my mom and Nate's mother come out.
"So everyone was behind this?" I ask and they all nod.
"He wanted to make this anniversary special considering everything you all went through." Leah said.
"I'm guessing you picked the dress." I tell Leah and she nods.
"You did a good job. I don't feel like I'm pregnant." I tell her gladly.
"Now we need to hurry up. We're keeping all the guests waiting." Nate's mother says and everyone helps me touch up my makeup and put on my veil, before taking me inside the building. Once inside, I meet up with my dad and my brothers.
"We may not have been able to give you away on your actual wedding, but today we were given the chance to." My dad says and both him and my mother stick their hands out for me to grab, which I gladly do.
"I think I'm speaking for everyone when I say, we're glad to have a sister like you." Sebastain says.
"I have felt empty for so long, but since you returned to us, I have finally been able to feel complete." Vincent answers and I try my best not to cry.
"Let's save all the mushy stuff for the toaster . We don't want her to look like Frankenstein's wife before she even has the ceremony." Asher says trying to nudge us in.
Quickly after Nate's mother enter the reception room, the music begins. First Leah walks in with Seb, then Asher with his date, then Vincent and his girlfriend, then Chris and Carrie and finally I enter along with my parents and I see Nate and my son beside him holding the rings. We soon reach the end of the isle, I hand my bouquet to Leah and my dad places my hand in Nate's.
"Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to watch Nathaniel Winston and Valerie Vanderbilt renew their vows. The minister says Nate begins.
"We have faced many challenges together and our love has been able to overcome it all. I said it before and it will never change, I want to remain by your side until my last breath." He says and I smile.
"For more than half my life that I have been alive, I've always felt empty. I made friends along the way, but I was still left without a family. It was not until I met you did I learn what it actually meant to have a family. Thanks to you I was even been able to find my real family. All of the happiness I have in my life now, none of this would have happened if I did not meet you. I want to remain with you for the rest of my life as well." I say trying my best not to cry
"We can now exchange the rings." The minister says and Chase quickly walks up to us and hands us the rings. He returns back to his spot beside my brothers, but not before quickly hugging both mine and Nate's legs which makes everyone awe in happiness. Once we placed our ring s in each other, the minister says,
"You may now kiss the bride." He quickly grabs me by the waist and kisses me passionately.
I was given a wonderful husband and an amazing family and I'm grateful for it all. I could not have asked for anything more. At this moment, my life felt, perfect.
