Class 10 : Finish Line

25 1 0

I stood far from the finish line,

Watching others pass me by,

Leaving me in the dust,

The sadness in my heart,

Feels like it will burst.

With the slightest touch .

I stood far from the finish line,

Taking it as a sign,

That sports are not my forte'.

I fear that I'll forever be,

Just a Jack of all trades,

But a master of none.

It cuts me like a blade,

To think that I'll forever be,

Just another person in the sea,

Just another wannabe.

I wonder if I'll ever find,

Something great in me.

They say, when life gives you lemons,

You just got to make lemonade.

They say, every dark cloud has a silver lining,

You just got to see where it's shining.

I could keep up this serenade,

But I don't think anything's going to change.

I fear I'll forever be,

That strange girl ,

At the back of the class.

Last in everything,

No matter how hard I try.

No specialty, forgotten as the days pass me by.

Stomped over and kicked to the side.

The silent rules that I abide.

Overshadowed and lost,

Watch out, 'cause I'll claw my way back at whatever the cost.

My destiny is mine to make,

I'll do whatever it takes.

To leave my mark upon this Earth.

Author's Note: I wrote this as a commemoration of my first and probably also my last School annual sports day 's memories. I came upon these realisations when I participated in four out of the six games available and yet couldn't reach the finish line in even one of those. I felt really pathetic then.
