Class:11:The Caged Bird Sings

Will the caged bird know how to fly?

Or will it topple out of the sky?

Freedom starts this July,

This is a chance of lifetime.

The doors have been unhinged,

For seventeen years, my freedom has been infringed.

I can feel the glare of the Sun on my face,

Adrenaline is making my heart race.

I can feel the breeze, ruffle these age-old feathers,

This feeling is oh-so bittersweet,

This cage has protected me from every stormy weather,

Since I was a helpless little birdy, that only knew how to tweet.

But it's time I left the nest, and learned how to stand,

On my own two feet.

The journey of a lifetime has begun,

It's a one-way street to adulthood but I won't run.

I've been thrown out of my comfort zone,

Now I'm all alone,

And on my own.

But it's alright, 'cause the desire to achieve is written in my bones.

I'm saying goodbye,

To everything I've ever known,

Only to be blown away,

To a land of the unknown.

So I pray,

And pray so hard,

With all my heart,

That, I don't go astray.

Author's Note: I'm looking forward to a new beginning, in a new country, a new school, new friends , living alone, learning to be independent.

But while my head is woozy with all this anticipation and wonder and curiosity I'm also really scared whether I'll be able to accomplish something great and come back worthy.I'm scared to disappoint my parents and I'm scared of failure. But hey, everyone has to leave the nest sometime right? Some just a little earlier than others.

I want to fly but I'm scared of falling. I want to be free but sometimes the cage seems to comfy.....And so the caged bird sings.
