After eating the cookies and ice cream with Annabeth insisting on having Oreo’s as well, I headed back up the staircase with Riley in tow and Annabeth in my arms, only to be blocked by a group of werewolves on the second floor. “So you’re siding with them now Annabeth after all we’ve done for you you ungrateful halfling?!” One of the back wolves growled and I held her closer to me, getting angrier by the second.

“Are you lot stupid can I just ask? Or do you all have death wishes?” At their puzzled expressions I elaborated. “You are insulting a half vampire while she is in the arms of a very moody pregnant vampire, who’s also just killed the alpha’s second in command. Do you honestly want to take me and Riley on so we can show Annabeth here why her vampire traits are her most valuable qualities?” I looked at Riley and laughed when he fangs shot out giving me an idea. “Oh, and we’re also starving.” I smiled revealing my own gleaming white fangs which couldn’t have got some of them moving quick enough!

The one’s that made me wary were the one’s that seemed to linger about, not running off and not outright challenging us... yet. They would be a problem in the future, I could feel it. I heard shuffling from the floor above and when I looked up, so did the last remaining few wolves, I saw Darren stood there glaring at the wolves and smiling at me, which made the other wolves glare more but eventually move out of our way.

“Have you ever considered becoming my mate because you would make a great alpha’s wife being an alpha in your own right.” Darren whispered in my ear as I reached the floor he was stood on.

“I think I have enough vampire problems to deal with at the moment without adding on ticked off werewolves to be in charge of to my never ending list of problems.” I walked into Riley’s room with Annabeth still in my arms but shut the door directly behind me, blocking Darren out. I couldn’t figure out my own feelings yet so I certainly wasn’t going near Darren when he is being his charming and charismatic self because that wasn’t going to help me decipher what I was feeling for who. It also wouldn’t help me figure out what to say to James...

(JAMES’S POV)

Three Weeks Later

“Why are we sitting here fighting when Rose and Riley are out there now stuck with those God-damned werewolves?!” I shouted breaking up yet another argument between Alex, Dimka, Nick and our newest arrivals, Rose’s father (my maker) and her newly turned mother who had a lot more control over her vampire instincts than most, unless she hadn’t experienced them yet. That was what I was worried about for Rose, she hadn’t experienced the fierce vampire urges yet and therefore didn’t know how to control them because they aren’t a part of her yet. Soon she would experience the lesser emotions which are genetically designed to ease her in to her true vampiric emotions, I just need to get to her before the final stage of vampirism hits and all her emotions are intensified, such as lust, frustration, jealousy, anger, upset and blood lust. She needed to be controlled before she goes on a killing spree because her vampiric emotions will also be heightened with the hormones from her pregnancy, which will also be enhanced when the true heightened emotions set in for her eternal life.

“Rose will start experiencing her true emotions soon and as she hasn’t been taught how to control them I suggest we stop the bickering before she does something she regrets without being able to stop herself.” Or something she doesn’t regret and leaves me for good. I can’t live without her even if she doesn’t think that. She was my one true love and always would be whether the baby was mine or not.

“My baby has a lot more control than you give her credit for. I’ve done alright and Riley made the transitions ok. We’re dealing with the emotions just fine so why wouldn’t she?” Rose’s mother’s undignified retort had me wincing and her father noticed it as well. There was something that all of us had failed to mention to my master and his mistress which was now going to come back and bite us all in the neck, more than likely literally.
