Epilogue

Nabulahaw ang buong bahay dahil sa iyak ng sanggol.  Mabilis na kumilos sina Fred at Jun papunta sa nursing room.  Pagbukas nila, nakita nilang karga karga na ni Anastasia ang apo niya pero hindi pa din tumigil ang sanggol sa pag-iyak.

Anastasia tries to sing a lullaby in English and then Greek, but Iviera Lucienne can't stop whaling.  "I think she is hungry or looking for someone...." Anastasia says in a helpless voice to Fred and Jun.

Nagulat ang lahat nang bumukas ang pintuan ang nakita ang ama ng bata. 

"That would be me."  Nakangiting bungad ni Ivo sa mga tao sa nursery room.  Lumapit si Ivo sa kinaroroonan ng biyenan at kinarga mula dito ang pinakamamahal niyang anak.  "My Yenny, why are you so noisy?"  Malambing na bulong niya sa sanggol.  Napatitig ang sanggol sa mukha ng ama niya at milagrong tumigil ang pag-iyak nito.  Iniabot ni Yen ang mukha ang mukha ng ama niya.  "Aha, you miss me, my little noisy girl?"

"She is maybe hungry, I think."  Anastasia knows that Moira wants to be breastfeed her baby instead of feeding her formula milk.

"Moira will be here in a few minutes.  She has a scheduled meeting with her publisher."  Ivo says to his mother-in-law.

"I see."

It is hard to believe that the most sought and powerful man in the Philippines can also be a doting father.  Nang dumating si Iviera [Ay-veera] Lucienne sa buhay nila ni Moira, abot langit na ang kasiyahan ni Ivo.  Wala na siyang mahigingi pa.  Natupad na lahat ng pangarap niya.  Nakapagpatayo siya ng architectural firm na pinangarap niya kahit noong una pa.  Doon niya naibubuhos ang talento at galing niya sa pagdedesign at pagpaplano ng bahay.  Ang gallery na dapat para sa Rockford Project ay gagawin niyang publishing house para kay Moira.  Ito ang magiging surpresa niya sa asawa oras mabuo na niya ang plano para sa buong building.  Lalo pang mas naging malaki ang kumpanya niya at plano niya pang mas palakihin at palaguin ito para sa pamilya niya.  He smiles while nibbling his daughter's small hands.  The baby shrieks and laughs at her father.

"You really amaze me, Ivo.  She doesn't giggle and shriek with others.  You really have a way with her."  Anastasia says while folding the baby's clothes.

Narinig nilang humahalakhak si Moira habang papasok ng nursery room.  "He has a way with all women.  Inalis niya ang suot niyang salamin at nilagay ito sa loob ng bag niya.  Nilapag niya muna bag sa malapit na sofa bago pumunta sa kinoroonan ng asawa at anak.  Hinalikan niya muna si Ivo sa pisngi at kinuha si Yen mula sa braso nito.

"I will be in my room when you need me."  Sabi ni Anastasia sa mag-asawa.

"Thank you very much, mama." Sabi ni Moira.  Still holding her child, she sits in a comfortable chair, unbuttons a part of her bodice to nurse her hungry child.  Her long hair shields her breast while feeding her baby.  Ivo on the other hand, lounges in a nearby chaise watching them closely.

Mas gumanda si Moira lalo na noong naging nanay siya.  Ganun din ang karera niya bilang isang writer.  Unlike her debut novel, her new one, Taming the Sinner.  It created a blitzkrieg success when it was first released last year by her publisher.  She received lots of wonderful feedback from her readers.  Salamat sa tulong ni Iñaki dahil ginawan siya nito ng isang blog kung saan pwede mag-iwan ng mensahe at kumento ang mga mambabasa niya.  The whole Philippines fell in love with  the story of Alex and Nicholas.  A beautiful mistress who fell in love with a scarred earl because of the letters they have exchanged.  Alex love for Nicholas is beyond physical attraction.  She only sees his heart and not the scars that deformed him.

Also with Nicholas to Alex.  He loved her as she is—her hare-bell beauty.  He did not dwell on her sinful past but her present gentle self.  As lover of happy endings, she ended the story happily.  Her hero and heroine got married and lived happily ever after.

"Kumusta ang meeting?"

Ngumiti si Moira sa asawa.  "It was a success.  May nakaschedule nang book signing—request dawn g mga fans ko."  Napahalakhal si Moira.  "Gustong gusto nila ang story nina Alex at Nicholas.  Sabi nga ng publisher ko, sana makasulat daw ulit ako ng libro.  Sabi ko, baka matagalan dahil kay Yen."

"That is good.  But you won't be needing them." Ivo says casually.

Moira looks at Ivo with confusion.  "Why?"

"Dahil ipupublish mo siya sa sarili mong publication house."  Parang nahipan ng hangin si Moira.  Tumayo muna siya sa sofa, pumunta malapit sa crib.  Inihiga muna niya ang anak para makatulog ito.  Humarap siya sa asawa at bakas pa din ang pagtataka sa mukha niya.  "Sarili kong ano?"

Tumayo si Ivo sa kinauupuan at lumapit kay Moira.  "Publisher.  Pero pinaplano ko pa ang design ng buong building."  Hinalikan niya ang asawa sa labi.  "It is my gift for you, lovey."

"Thank you."  She kisses her husband back.  "But on the second thought, hindi ba yun, conflict of interest?  Kasi mga libro ko ang ipupublish ko sa sarili kong publishing house.  I have my standard.  I want my books to be published traditionally—by other publishing house, not mine,"she argues.

"Do not worry," he says sweetly.  "I will be your editor.  The building will be made as your publishing house.  Then maybe, I will extend it to make a library and playground for Yen."  Napatingin siya sa anak niya.  "She is lovely.  She looks more like you, every day."

Of all the surprises that day, the greatest is Ivo's absorption of his daughter.  Hindi akalain ni Moira na magiging attached si Ivo sa anak niya dahil sa mga sinabi sa kanya nito noon.  "Ivo?"

"Hmm?"

"I think the curse of your infamous bed did not work for us.  I conceived a daughter—not a son."

"You are right, hindi totoo ang sumpang yun.  It was all my past hatred towards my father."  Napabuntong hininga si Ivo.  "And you what, I am thankful for what he did to me."  Her moves closer to his wife and touches her chin.  He leans closer to her and touches her lips with his.  "If it weren't for him, I wouldn't be here with you."  He kisses her again—deeply this time.  She puts her arms around his neck and draws him nearer.
