Your Shy Song

There is a guarded castle in a far off land
Where stone walls of height command
For miles around the wind swept steps;
A dark, deep moat surrounds and deflects
With impassable drawbridge preventing all,
Shielding the inhabitant against cruel gall;

From those trampling across to trample on
The heart and soul of your shy song,
As one cannot break without the other,
The drawbridge secured by solid tether,
Chained to protect from confused calamity.
Real or imagined, there is another casualty,

As even I, love, cannot these ramparts cross,
Hence both you and I are the worse for loss.
