Somethings are set in stone from the moment they are conceived. An idea, a thought, a small prayer. Arete wasn't sure if her prayers were being answered. It was a fleeting hope but hope nonetheless. As she lay face down on the cold marbled floor, her whispered floated through the temple. They were hushed and mumbled. Rushed as if time was not on her side. Her words were mumbled as she prayed to Athena the goddess of wisdom. She prayed for answers in this time of tribulation.

"I do not know if you can hear me goddess. My prayers seem to dissolve into nothingness." Arete often prayed to Athena, asking the goddess for wisdom and security.

In the distance Arete could hear the cheers of her village as they celebrated the coming of summer. There was much to celebrate for her people. The harvest that season was beautiful. Yet Arete could not find it in herself to find joy in the changing seasons.
