I woke up to the bed shaking. I opened my eyes and saw that Elaine was jumping on the bed.

"What are you doing?" I asked sounding like a troll my voice was so groggily. I cleared my throat

and sat up on the bed.

"We get to hear Mayday Parade today!" Elaine cheered still jumping on the bed now with her arms

up.

I looked at my alarm clock and I saw that I still had five minutes to sleep. I laid down knowing that I

probably wouldn't go back to sleep so I turned on my radio.

"It's Friday, Sam! If any of you listening have any plans for the weekend please call in and tell us!"

the cheerful lady on the radio said. "We have a caller...hello what is your name?"

"My name is Derek Sanders and I just wanted to tell everyone that the band I'm part of is playing at

Tallahassee High School today at 2:45. Please come and listen!" Derek said. Elaine ran off the bed and put the radio up to her ear and listened as Derek spoke.

"We'll tell our listeners to do so! Thank you Derek." The lady on the radio explained.

"That was Derek!" Elaine screamed in my face.

"I realize that!" I screamed back sarcastically. I went into the bathroom to get ready. My dad wrote

me a pass to get out of class early and Elaine and I got on the bus to go to school.

"What if no one likes them, Elaine?" I worriedly asked her.

"You seriously think no one will like them?! I'm pretty sure everyone will love them just like we do!"

She said with her chipper attitude I hope she was right.

My classes went by slower than ever but eventually it was lunch and that meant I only had one

more class until I got excused to help the guys and that class was theater. Easy.

In theater class we had been auditioning for the summer play for the past couple of weeks. It was

finally the day we found out what roles we got. I loved acting it forced me to be someone I'm not. I

really enjoyed that. Elaine hated everything about acting she was more of the educated type.

"All right everyone the roles are posted on the door. Go take a look!" My crazy teacher Mrs. Laurence

told us. I looked at the small parts list first.
