Greetings!

Can't believe we're just a couple (or more) hundred reads away from 2K! I was in shoooock.

So, let us begin.

Mirajane's POV, minna~

CAUTION: This chapter might break you like it broke me.

"Laxus, back off!"

I glared at him as I pushed him away from Freed. I could easily tell that he could see the injuries from his sudden electric attack a week ago. He looked surprised. And, it's because we never broke up. Technically, he never said that we were over, so no one can blame him.

No one can blame him at all, because it was all my fault.

"I know I hurt you," he said through gritted teeth before growling loudly. "But, I never called our relationship off! What is this, Mirajane? A form of revenge?"

"Yes," I replied, and I don't know why but I could feel that his heart was sinking. "And, besides, I wanted to end it that day."

"That day when I showed you the butterflies?"

And, it was my turn to get my heart broken. I knew that he was being honest, but I looked into his eyes that day. When he showed me the butterflies, he looked sincere. When he gave me a literal shock, he looked like he was trying not to end our relationship. He didn't want to tell me the secret, whatever the secret is. And, that's also painful.

"What's the secret?" I clenched my fists.

"You haven't answered my question yet."

"Laxus, I just wanted to know the---"

"I said, answer me!" he shouted, making the whole guild silent.

Maybe, he was misunderstood. No one ever answered him properly, and he grew tired of it. Maybe, that's why he turned like this.

"No..." I shook my head. "I-I did want it to end when you left me there, because I felt like, I was more useful to you if I was dead."

"Never in a million years... and now, you'd do this?" he asked, his eyes showing disbelief. "Now, you'd do this? Just, answer me truthfully. I can end this now."

"I don't want to end it now," I could feel the tears in my eyes, waiting for the signal to fall. "I'll tell you truthfully, okay? We're not real - Freed and I, I mean - and that's because I just wanted to make you feel the sweet and cold taste of revenge." Immediately, Freed exhaled and went to Bickslow's side.

"Really... you had me angry for nothing. You should have visited me at my apartment," he chuckled, as if nothing just happened. "I looked like a mess, with pizza remains lying everywhere."

"Laxus, tell me now."

That caught his attention. I don't know why, but he looked so tensed. That's when I realized that the paparazzi were coming over. He didn't want to express it publicly. It would crush him, for his whole life.

He just put a hand on my shoulder, and hugged me tight, as if it were the last time we were going to feel each other's warm bodies. As if it were the last time he'd ever hug me. It was a sincere hug, and I never wanted to let go of him. I never did want to let go of him, from the start.

When he let go, I felt empty. He walked over to the S-Class request board, opened the secret exit door behind it and left. The paparazzi came, and all I could give them was the tears that streamed down my face.

He has officially called it off.

---

The next days were unbearable. I never saw Laxus in the guild, and all I receive are a few message from him through Freed. I don't know why, but Bickslow really doesn't want to glance at me, not even once. It feels like, he broke us apart. But, it's not his fault. It was mine.
