Chapter 9

JILL'S P.O.V

"What do you think? Do I look fine?"

Humarap ako kay Leah na nakaupo sa kama ng kwarto ko at nakaharap sa kanyang cellphone. She looked up and eyed me head to toe. She raise her hand and give me a thumbs-up.

"You look gorgeous." she said with an approving look.

Muli akong humarap sa full body mirror at pinagmasdan ang aking sarili. The navy long mermaid dress fits perfectly on me. The dress was simple yet elegant and the necklace I was wearing complemented with the dress.

I let my hair down and though I curled it, it still reach my waist. Hindi ko namalayan na mahaba na pala ang buhok ko dahil palagi akong nakatirintas. Kaunti lang rin ang make-up na pinalagay ko kay Leah dahil mabigat sa mukha kapag maraming make-up.

I inhaled deeply and tried to smile. I hope tonight would turn out fine. After all these years I'm still not used to these things. I am not an introvert, it's just that I don't really like attending to these types of social gathering. Where people would always talk about business.

"Are you ready? You should be there by eight and you only have twenty minutes to get there. The car is already in front of the house. Ikaw nalang ang hinihintay."

Muli akong humugot ng hangin bago humarap sa kanya at tumango. She slid her phone inside her pocket before leading me downstairs. Nadatnan ko pa ang mga anak ko na nakipaglaro sa kanilang uncle. Nang makita ako ni Tiarah ay agad niyang ibinaba ang stuff toy na kanyang hawak at tumakbo papunta sa akin. She hugged my waist and smiled.

"You look very beautiful mommy! Right kuya? Mommy is beautiful." she turned to her brother who's busy with his ipad. She called his name to get his attention.

Nag-angat si Crown ng tingin at ibinaba ang ipad. Lumapit rin siya sa akin at tumabi kay Tiarah.

"Our mother is always beautiful, Ayah." tapos yumakap sa akin.

Napangiti ako dahil sa sinabi ng anak ko. "You flatter me anak." Yumuko ako ng kaunti at hinalikan sila sa kanilang mga pisngi. "I'll be back before midnight and behave to your ninong Luke. Don't give him a headache. Undertstand?"

"Understand." / "Yes po."
Magkasabay nilang sagot.

"I love you guys. Sleep early. Wag niyo rin kalimutang uminom ng gatas. Goodbye, kids."

Nagpaalam rin ako kay Luke bago tuluyang lumabas ng bahay. May mga binilin pa ako kay Luke pero ewan ko kung naintindihan ba niya ang nga pinagsasabi ko dahil tango lang siya ng tango. Pagkalabas ko ay naabutan ko si Leah na nakikipag-usap sa driver.

Humarap si Leah sa akin pagkatapos magbilin sa driver at tingnan ako mula ulo hanggang paa.
She grinned and hugged which I returned.

"The dress really suits you." humiwalay siya sa akin.

Ngumiti ako sa kanya bago tumalikod. Pinagbuksan ako ni kuyang driver ng pinto at pumasok ako. Nang makapasok na si kuya sa sasakyan ay kaagad na pinaandar niya ang sasakyan.

Leah should be with me but she's stubborn and refuse. She said she doesn't want to face the woman from before. The one tried to invite her to the ball which she decline. I can't understand why she don't like the woman but I just shrugged it off.

Saktong dumating kami sa venue five minutes before mag-eight. Pinagbuksan ako ni kuya at paglabas ko ay bumungad sa akin ang mga flash ng camera. Nagulat ako sa dami ng press na bumungad sa akin.

Ano pa nga ba ang e-expect ko. The people coming to the ball are all prominent business men and woman. Some are famous socialites and celebrities that are always the headlines of every newspaper. Bago pa ako makahakbang ay mayroong sinabi si kuyang driver sa akin
