Present

"I need you to stop dying, Annie." My eyes shoot open as I take in the woman before me.

Her head is completely shaved, making her look very petite. One eye is dark green, and the other is light green; her skin is ashen, and she looks like she could be the keeper of the light, yet she has a dark black wing and an angelic wing. I look around, but darkness surrounds us. An eerie silence follows the night, yet peace fills my body.

"I am doing everything in my power, so your sister does not reap you, so please stop dying." I slightly tilt my head; confusion fills my body.

"The circle, where you died the first time, killed you again. It's cursed for you. Every time you step into that circle, you will die, so please stay away from it." She explains calmly.

"Who are you?" My question fills the air around us, my voice coming off choppy and confused, whereas the lady before me, comes off graceful and quiet.

"My name is Bora, and I am a reaper." I shake my head at her words.

I couldn't think about her words like I am unable to process any thoughts correctly. Everything is fuzzy.

"Your sister doesn't know who you are or who she is; she just got out of hell, so she is still recovering," Bora explains, and my eyes widen at her words.

Hell?

"Why was she in hell? Was she that bad?" Bora laughs at my assumption, her laugh is light-hearted and tickles my eardrums.

"No, she spent time in heaven and hell, she is still in training now, and she is discovering her true mate," Bora explains as she looks me in the eyes with a pointed look. "So she doesn't need any distractions, so please make my job easier and stop dying, I can't beat her to death every time," I raise my brows, a death? So, my sister, Navi, is a reaper? I thought she was a goddess. What even is a reaper? I'm guessing they reap souls.

"Anyway, it is time to put your soul back into your body. Goodbye, we will see each other again." Bora states before casting me another pointed look. "Don't let it be soon."

With that, she vanishes, and I seem to lose my thought process all over again.

My eyes flutter open as I feel the pressure on my chest. I look up and see Decker in the middle of doing compressions on my chest. I give him a confused look before speaking.

"Seeing as my lungs don't work, that is not going to help." Decker jumps as Destiny and Colt let out a surprised scream as they look back at me.

Destiny throws a glare my way as Decker examines my body up and down.

"What the hell happened! Why would you scare us like that, you just went limp an-"

I narrow my eyes at Destiny's words. "I died here, the land has a curse tied to you," I say, interrupting her rant, she looks at me in shock. She then looks around at the dirt ground that is void of any life.

"What happened?" Colt asks as Decker gives me a hand and helps me up.

"Someone betrayed me here, her name was Roselynn, I was hunting a bounty with her," I explain as I look around the dead circle. "She tricked me, lead me into a group of rogues, and then stabbed me in the back, literally. Before stabbing me again," I say as I point to the scars on my chest, stomach, and back. Destiny shows signs of sympathy before quickly covering them up with disgust. Colt and Decker look ready to kill as they eye the scars.

"I died here; the people I stayed with found me. They brought me back. They got a witch; she warned them I might not come back complete." I sigh as I look at the ground, remembering the feeling of emptiness that comes with losing a wolf. Never feeling complete, or like I even belonged in this world now.
"But grief never lets people think clearly, so they brought me back anyway, but I wasn't completely back. My wolf was gone. My appearance was changed. I use to have blonde hair and green eyes." I say as I run a hand through a now dark black strand of hair before looking up, causing them to look into my black eyes.
