Chapter 17: Nondescript Winter Holiday

When me and Penny were out walking in town, I thought that the snow then would be the worst it would get, hoo boy was I wrong, it had practically been a blizzard not long after we had gotten back and hadn't relented until the next day, we had almost been snowed in, Vale was now scrambling to get some of the Holiday decorations up, I saw Professor Goodwitch cheating slightly by using her Semblance to hang up some baubles onto a tree which had been brought into the cafeteria. Ruby and Yang had decided to head back to Patch for the festivities, when the two found out that Blake and Weiss didn't particularly want to visit their families at the time, they were dragged along too, meaning that team RWBY had all left for now, leaving me and the rest of LPIN as well as team JNPR, Ren and Nora had no family to visit, while Jaune and Pyrrha decided that they wanted to spend the season together, I was playing Go Fish in my dorm with the rest of my team to pass some of the time, we had finally entered our Winter break so their weren't any lessons to attend, I looked at my hand, I held five cards, two aces, two sevens and a Queen, it was my turn and I looked carefully at my teammates, hmm, I just took Pennys ace on my last turn, meaning that the remaining two must be with either Noire, Neo or somewhere in the deck, Noire has no poker face so it's easy to tell she hasn't got them, Neo on the other hand hasn't made any bold moves, keeping most of her hand a secret, when I took Pennys I could've sworn I saw a smirk and with me being distracted when I was taking Pennys card, it's entirely possible that... Only one way to find out

"Neo, my longest ally, you wouldn't happen to be hiding the last two aces from me would you?" I asked smiling, she remained stony faced, before sighing and handing them over, gleefully putting all four down I heard a knock at the door, standing up I told them I would answer it. I walked up to the wooden door of my dorm and cracked it open, it revealed a fairly tall man with short orange hair, he wore a white lab coat with a small Atlesian coat of arms in the corner    

"Ah, would this be team LPINs dorm?" I nodded

"May I come in?" He asked, he was polite, being a stranger I didn't trust him

"I'm sorry sir, but who are you?" I asked, the man put his hand to his face as he responded

"Oh I'm so sorry, I wanted this to be a surprise you see..." He said, he leaned in and whispered his next few words

"My name is Doctor Enrico Polendina." I was shocked at this, he smiled

"May I come in now?" I smiled and stood back, holding the door open as he walked in, the rest of my team looked to the door, when Penny saw who it was she immediately stood up and ran over to him

"Father!" She exclaimed, hugging him tightly, he grinned but was clearly in pain

"It's good to see you Penny dear, could you perhaps put me down though? I'd like my rib cage to remain intact please." She giggled as she let go of him

"I was called over by the General for some business concerning the Atlesian Knights and I thought I would come visit, how have you been?" Penny smiled

"I've been doing well Father! I've made new friends with the others here at Beacon, and my grades have been good as well." Pennys father smiled and patted her head

"Well, I'm afraid I can't stay long, but I'd like you to take this, don't open it just yet though." He said, pulling out a small box and handing it to Penny, she gladly took it before hugging him one last time as he left, we were about to get back to the game when someone knocked on the door again, I opened it to see the General himself, he was looking slightly nervous

"Hello Y/N, is Noire in right now?" I smiled and opened the door for him, he walked in and Noire waved to him upon seeing him, he smiled

"I know I haven't been much of a uh... Father to you Noire, but I thought I should at least get you something considering it is the holidays, so, here you go." He said, passing her a large box, it looked quite heavy, she took it and placed next to where she was sitting, before walking over to her bed and pulling something out from underneath
