Before you begin! This story is also a Modern AU that features Deacury and Maylor. I'm gonna try my best with UK school systems, as I live in America, but thank you RogersPinkConverse for helping me out this chapter! For reference, the Queen boys have their early 70s/late 60s haircuts :D thank you so much for reading and enjoy!

Dear Diary:

Well, for starters, my name is John Richard Deacon born on August the 19th, 2003. Mum said that getting a diary would help me be able to vent and talk about my issues since I don't have enough friends to do so.

It's supposed to get me used to talking and "social interaction" but I think she's just calling me introverted and lonely, which is kind of true.

I literally don't know how to talk in public. It's sad really. I wish I wasn't so shy sometimes. But at least I'm not completely lonely.

I've got my friend Roger. He took me under his wing when I transferred to his secondary school in year 7. He was held back two years for being.. naughty.. so we're both in year 11 now!

He's pretty cool. Scratch that - he's really cool. Rog's the popular kid in school. He's good in athletics, but he's also a dumb sh*t sometimes. But that makes things more fun! At least he gets decent grades, right?

I don't know how the hell I ended up being friends with him! I'm sure he gets mocked because of me, but he says he's fine. I feel guilty.. like I'm some sort of burden.

He assures me I'm not, but I dunno. I'll just drop it. Roger is fairly nice, but he is a horny pain in the ass too. Such a twit he is!
But it's fine. He's a great and loyal friend.

I really don't want to go to school. Our maths teacher got fired, so now we have this new guy named Mr. Beach.

He was introduced to us about a week ago in an assembly regarding Mr. Reid's firing. He seemed... off... The guy was scanning the room. Like he was surveilling every student, and when his eyes landed on me, they stayed on me. They stayed on me for a long while.

It unsettled me a little, but I'm sure it's nothing. I guess that's really all I have to say. Maybe I should intentionally mess up my penmanship so no one can read this!

~ Signing off, J Deacon

I placed down my journal, or diary, on my bed. I sighed to myself as I trudged to the bathroom. The water splashed onto my face was shivering cold. I shuddered.

After rinsing and wiping off my face, I bopped to a silent beat as I brushed my teeth. When I spit the water back into the sink, I stared into the mirror.

Ugh, I hated that tooth gap. I've been made fun of because of that damn thing ever since primary school.

Whatever. I don't want to get braces. Besides, it's what makes me "unique." Mum says it's adorable, but that's just her being a mum, y'know.

If I didn't get out of this bloody bathroom in a few minutes, Julie would surely throw a coffee machine at me! She hated being late to school. She liked to chat with her friends before classes started. Lucky gal was quite popular in her year 7 class. I threw on my uniform and a black hoodie and shut the bathroom door behind me.

I lifted up my backpack from the carpet floor and lugged it onto the bed. That thing felt like it had two elephants in it!

Well, there were no elephants, but rather several textbooks varying from biology to English. I swiped the maths book from my counter and quickly skimmed through the pages again.
