Amazon Alexa was playing sad songs back to back. This was exactly what he didn't need right now. Now, he missed his daughter even more.
She was married into a good Indian family, who believed in the culture of India, who worshipped the Gods and had strong values.

He was happy for her, of course. But, he also missed the songs she used to sing all the time. He tried to recollect the names but he had never really known them in the first place. He wished she was with him at that moment. He wished to see her, to hear her sing those happy songs again.

All he hoped was to talk to her on the phone. But now, that was not a great option either. Her husband always picked up and said, "She is sleeping right now" or "She is working and can't talk" or gave some other excuse. The man was always home, having lost his job now.

His daughter had never talked to her father after she was married off. He still remembered the sound of her voice as she sang songs back when she lived with him.

He was on pins and needles. So he decided to go see her at once, only to find out that her new family had sacrificed her tongue for her husband's luck at a new job.
