Chapter 4- Coincidence?

            Leah-

Josh Carter? This couldn’t be Greg’s friend Josh! Greg had only been joking about putting in his word for me, right? I shuddered. This might actually be happening. My hand started to shake strangely as I considered this possibility. How long had it been since I’d had a boyfriend? Since I’d had even the slightest romantic relationship with a guy? A long while. And truth be told, I wasn’t sure I was ready to handle the stress right now.

Heading upstairs to my room, I quickly fumbled a text through my phone’s keyboard.

hey, Josh! How’s it going? Greg told me a bit about you!

I smiled and closed my eyes as I sent the text. Dear Lord, I prayed. Please help me to take things sensibly here. I don’t want to rush into anything.

Not twenty seconds later, Josh texted back.

im good. Just chillin, watchin sum football. yea and im sure greg said a lot about me.

Gosh, I hated sarcasm over text messaging. Now how could I figure out how to reply? Greg had said a lot of good things about him, of course, and that’s what I’d meant. I texted him back carefully, my eyebrows furrowed.

            was that sarcasm?

            I guess so lol.

Oh, well you need more confidence. He said only good stuff. :)

            like…?

idk… I looked up from my phone and grinned. He was already getting into my head. you’re good at sports, handsome, like I would know :P, and he said u have a good personality.

I typed that into the text box and almost deleted it at the last minute. But in the heat of the moment I hit send before I could change my mind. I decided to preoccupy myself with some much needed chores. I gathered the laundry from my clothes basket and tossed items of clothing down the laundry shoot.

Carefully scoping my room, I searched for other dirty clothes. Of course I only caught sight of my phone vibrating on my bedspread and rushed over to see the new texts.
