'meet me by the lake outside of inkblot at 6 tonight. i'll see you there.
-rider'

"thanks for giving me a ride, aloha," goggles thanked as he exited the pink inkling's car. "anytime. just make sure to tell me how it goes," he said with a smile before leaving. goggles turned and looked at the time on his phone. it was 6:10. he began running towards the lake, feeling bad about being a little late, even though it was only by ten minutes.

when the blue inkling approached the lake, he suddenly fell into worry. all he found by the lakeside was rider's jacket, white shirt, and rider's octo boots. he also noted the fact there was a guitar case too. "rider?" he called. no answer. he looked into the lake and saw air bubbles floating to the surface.

"rider!?" he called, a little more worried than before. goggles couldn't help but think he might've went into the lake. the blue tentacled boy started taking off his jacket to attempt to save rider but stopped when the inkling he was looking for popped out of the water. he ran a hand down his face before opening his eyes. "o-oh," he muttered. "rider! what are you doing in there, that's dangerous!" the blue inkling frowned.

"it's shallow, goggles. i can stand," he reassured. "still! you had me really worried." rider let out a chuckle. "sorry." the yellow green inkling got out of the water. "did you even bring a towel?" rider only shook his head. "why do bring a towel when i can air dry?" goggles bit his lip. he couldn't help but stare at rider's toned body and the way the water rolled off his abs. rider looked at the orange, pink, purple, and blue sky. "you don't happen to want to just dip in for a few minutes, do ya?" he asked. goggles hesitated. "it's a little risky," he muttered. rider chuckled. "would i let you drown, goggles?"

rider may have seemed okay and chill, but his three hearts were pounding like crazy and the blush on his cheeks were very prominent. he was trying to keep up an act, just like he always did when he was trying to maintain his pride.

the blue inkling looked at the water and back at rider. "fine." the yellow green inkling smiled and ran to the water, jumping in with a splash as he reached it. his head popped out of the water within a matter of seconds. "come on," he encouraged. goggles took off his hero runners and chucked them to the side, nervously dipping his feet in. rider went up to him, the water at least up to the bottom portion of his rib cage. the yellow green tentacled boy held onto goggles' waist.

"it's okay, i got ya," rider promised as he slowly brought the blue inkling boy into the water. he set the shorter boy down, the water up his chest. he let out a small laugh. "see? you're fine." goggles laughed and gave rider a bright smile. "yeah, i am. i'm more than fine!" the taller inkling blushed and let out a short laugh. he let go of goggles' waist and started splashing him. "hey!" the blue inkling giggled and splashed back.

rider dunk under water. "huh? rider?" goggles screeched as the yellow green inkling scared him from behind. "rider!" he whined. the taller boy just smirked. "scaredy cat," he teased. he got a splash of water in his face, a laugh escaping his lips. "yeah, that's real cute," he muttered, wiping the water from his face. when he opened his eyes, he noticed goggles wasn't there. "real funny. you aren't gonna scare me, goggles." he looked around worriedly. he was nowhere in sight. "goggles? shit!"

rider went under the water and squinted, hoping it would help him see better. he saw the blue inkling, frantically trying to get his feet on the ground and his head above surface at the same time. rider tried his best to reach for goggles' hand but failed. he brought his head back up to the surface to take a deep breath and went back under, getting closer to the edge of where the shallow was. he grabbed onto goggles' hand and pulled him toward the shore. the blue inkling has passed out. "goddammit," rider muttered, pulling him on to land.

"c'mon, goggles. wake up," he said anxiously, slapping the smaller boy's face. "come on, come on." he bit his lip before giving him cpr. "please, wake up," he begged before hesitantly giving goggles mouth to mouth. when he realized that wasn't working out, he placed his hands on goggles' chest and pressed on it.

he let out a sigh of relief when water spewed out of the blue inkling's mouth. "dammit, goggles. you scared the shit out of me. that's enough water from now on," rider said, collapsing next to goggles on the grass. the sun was a little more than half way set. "i'm sorry for worrying you," the blue inkling said, watching the sun. "it's fine. just say out of the water from now on," rider said with a small grumble.

"is that your guitar?" goggles asked. rider scoffed. "well, who's could it be?" he asked sarcastically. "play something for me," the shorter inkling said with a sweet smile. rider sat up and furrowed his eyebrows. "i'm not good." goggles shook his head, the same smile still on his face. "i doubt that," he said, handing the guitar case over to rider. the yellow green inkling only sighed and opened the case, revealing his clean black guitar. he carefully took it out of the case and made sure it was tuned before playing a light tune.

the whole scene was just so calming. rider playing the soft tune, the sun setting, the water on their skin. it was all so relaxing. rider began to sing. goggles would've sang along to the peaceful song, (into the light, the name was called), but he was afraid wouldn't sound well with the yellow green inkling's, who's voice was deep, yet soft and calming. the smaller boy only smiled sweetly as rider continued singing the song. he watched his long fingers as they strummed the somewhat thick strings that made such a melodious noise.

"i didn't think you liked off the hook. you seem like more of a dedf1sh kinda person," goggles said as the yellow green inkling picked the strings for the instrumental. "i do like dedf1sh but y'know. there's something about marina's voice when she was singing into the light," he said before singing the rest of the lyrics. at the end, goggles began to harmonize, his voice much higher and sweeter than rider's deep and mellow one. once the taller inkling finished plucking the strings, he let out a small chuckle. "i didn't know you sang," he admitted. "and i didn't know you sang," goggles giggled. rider carefully put his guitar back in his case.

"the more you know," he muttered as the sun finished setting. "want me to take you home? it's gonna get dark soon," the yellow green inkling stood up, picking up his black inky rider jacket and throwing it over goggles' shoulders. "you have a car?" the blue inkling asked, standing up as well. "somethin' like that," he said, putting his t-shirt on and slinging his guitar case over his shoulder. the two walked to the parking lot. "is that a motorcycle?" goggles said in awe. "yep," the taller inkling nodded, "mind carrying my guitar case?" the shorter inkling nodded, allowing rider to put the case over his shoulder.

rider got on the sleek black bike and motioned goggles over. "hang on," he said as the blue inkling sat on the back of the seat. the small boy clung onto the inkling in front of him as he started up the motorcycle. goggles closed his eyes shut, somewhat terrified of how fast they were going. he clung on tighter as they came across a few speed bumps.

not much later, the two arrived in front of goggles' apartment building. "thank you. i know we didn't do much and i'm sorry it's been awkward since i started dating prince but we can still be friends, right?" rider sighed and took his guitar case from goggles. "yeah." they shared a moment of silence before the blue inkling gave back rider's jacket and put on his own eggplant mountain coat. "bye, rider."
"later."

and with that, rider drove off.
