4. A DINNER TO REMEMBER

The dining room was just as fancy as the rest of the castle. There was a massive table place horizontally against one side of the walls. It was made of some dark wood that had a slight reddish tinge. There were also three other tables that went vertically along the rest of the room, reminding me of the set up in the Hogwarts Great Hall.

‘The lower people sit at the vertical tables,’ Christopher explained to me. I tried to ignore the stares of everyone. ‘They’re dukes and duchesses and family members. All of the royals sit on that big table up there.’

He pointed to the table against the wall.

‘So, I’m sitting on one of the vertical tables?’

‘No, you’re sitting up there with me.’

‘Why? I’m not a royal.’ Christopher rolled his eyes at me.

‘Milee, you’re my mate. You’re the future queen of the vampire kingdom.’

‘Don't rub it in. I don’t want my ego to be the same size as yours.’ Suddenly, it dawned on me. ‘Wait a second! I can’t lead a country! Are you insane?'

‘No, but you are.’

‘Exactly! I refuse! I will only rule a country full of smurfs! And that’s final!’ I cried and Christopher shook his head.

‘Emilee… Smurfs aren’t real.’

‘WHAT? HOW COULD YOU SAY THAT TO ME? YOU- MHF MMM MF!’ He slapped his hand over my mouth before I could continue with my screaming.

‘Milee,’ he chided, ‘you’re at a formal dinner. No screaming.’

‘MHMMM MMM MMMF!’

‘I love you too.’

I let out a loud shriek, that came out as another muffled noise, and let him tug me over to the royal table.

‘Emilee,’ Christopher said, his voice serious, ‘you have to behave now, okay? You’re going to meet a lot of important people- kings and queens and heirs to other countries. You have to act like you know what they’re talking about at all times. No blurting things out.’

‘Mmfh.’

‘Exactly, and don’t get angry with me. We’re meant to be the perfect couple.’

‘Mhmm mm muh mmmf meh.’

‘I know we’re already the perfect couple, but we still need to prove it to the rest of them. Now, I’m going to let go of your mouth. Don’t scream.’

‘AAAAAAAAAAAAAH!’ I screamed as soon as he took away his hand. ‘AIR! BEAUTIFUL, POLLUTED AIR! OH, HOW I MISSED YOU!’

‘Emilee, what did I say about keeping the screaming to a minimum.’

‘Oh. Right. Let’s go! I want to meet some dwarves! And werewolves! Werewolves are hot and they have one-hundred-packs! I want abs like that, man! Really bad!’

‘Oh Emilee…’ Again with the sighing! God, his voice is going to stay that way forever the way he’s going.

‘Yes, that’s me. Emilee. I’m so proud that someone as awesome as you knows my name!’ I said sarcastically.

‘You should be.’ He pecked my lips and took my hand, dragging me up to the table. We were seated between some old chick that smelled weird (luckily Christopher was next to her) and a hot guy with brown hair and a face that reminded me of a puppy dog. So cute!
