Chapter 25

Iliana’s POV

I couldn’t believe it. They were as bad as my aunt was. Separating Caleb from his mate just because they are the same gender is despicable. I could only pray that Trinton and Cass had come up with some plan to fix this.

On a lighter side, Caleb had finally started talking. Yep, but he only ever talks to Beth-Anne. I love my baby girl to death. She’s so bright and optimistic that even Caleb couldn’t ignore how bubbly she is. She had him talking in less than three days. Emilia was shocked, to say the least. She didn’t think she’d ever hear her brother talk again, much less laughing and playing like he does with Beth-Anne.

As Emilia and I sat on the wrap-around porch watching Caleb chasing Beth-Anne around the back yard, always just short of being able to tag her, Trinton walked out with a huge grin on his face. At first I thought it might be because he and Beata had finally completed the mating process, but when he called Caleb in and turned to him and Emilia, the smile widened and I knew that he had gotten good news.

“I need you two to get changed. We will have visitors for dinner. You two are invited, but your parents will be dining with the Andrew’s tonight. Ana, you and Cassidy will be here with us.” He turned and walked back into the pack house without another word.

The three of us sat on the porch staring at each other.

“You should probably be getting ready right now. Nothing too fancy, but nice, nonetheless.” Trinton called out from the kitchen.

We jumped into action, Emilia and I running to her room and Caleb to his. When we reemerged three hours later at the doorbell, Emilia and I couldn’t help but to gawk at Caleb. He looked amazing in his black slacks and bright blue button up shirt that brought out his blue-grey eyes. We stared at him the entire way down the stairs to greet our dinner guests. He glared at us and rolled his eyes before smiling broadly. When Trinton opened the door, Caleb was still looking at us as we stared at him in awe.

“Welcome, Alpha Robertson, Nicholas,” Trinton greeted our guests and Emilia and Caleb froze, their eyes going wide.

“How are you, Trinton?” Alpha Robertson asked. “It’s been quite a while since I saw you last. You look good, lad.”

Trinton nodded his head and I just looked around confused. Then I heard his voice. “You said you had something for us?” he asked.

Trinton nodded his head again and opened the door wider to allow the guests to enter. Alpha Robertson was a handsome man, even though he was obviously in his later forties. Life had been good to him. His jet black hair was shaved close to his head, but a little longer on top than on the side. His ice blue eyes were kind and knowledgeable. From appearances, he seemed like a wonderful man, but from talking with Alpha Grayson, I knew that if you got on his bad side, he spared nothing in delivering his wrath against you.

His son was another story. Nicholas was tall, well built and drop dead gorgeous. His emerald eyes glistened in the dim light of the entrance hall and his blonde hair almost seemed white. The moment his eyes landed on Caleb, who stood to the side, mouth agape, his entire face lit up. He moved faster than my eyes could follow and his arms were around Caleb, pulling him into a tight embrace and spinning him like you see in those old, sappy romance movies. I couldn’t help but smile at the sight unfolding before my eyes. They looked so perfect together.

At that moment, Cass walked through the door in an adorable, pearl-white summer dress with matching flats. She made a beeline for me and wrapped her arms around me tightly, pulling me into her warm embrace. I sighed, completely content with life at the moment, which was shortly ruined by Trinton clearing his throat. Cass and I jumped apart in time to see Caleb and Nicholas doing the same.
