you mean too much to me

when your eyes leave
i feel like a balloon that has lost it's air
like a statue that once stood so tall
fallen to the ground
a mess of rubble and loose stones
nothing.

your eyes feel like home
and when they look away
it is like a part of me has gone

i am homesick.

and i know i will never see you again
i know that i will always be missing a part of my heart
but i have to go

because if you don't return my love
in the way i know you won't
then i will not just be a deflated mess of dilapidation.
i will be nothing.

and i can't let that happen.
