“This is your new guardians -the Valdez family!”
She gestured to four children and two adults. I got a good look at them.
There were two twin girls, maybe about 8 or 9. (They are, in fact, 9.) They had silvery hair and cat-like purple eyes, and identified themselves as Violet and Naomi.
Evelyn, or “Mom”, and Stein, or “Dad”, are a happy couple who go around adopting orphaned children. They have blond hair and hazel eyes.
Remember Hannah? From the library? To my surprise, she’s been adopted by the traveling circus. (You will see how this makes sense, don't worry.)
And Reese. The barista from two chapters ago. She’s the only biological child of Miss Evelyn and Mr. Stein.
After an hour of signing legal documents and showing ID’s, we were permitted to leave Miss Peterson’s.
No offense, but good riddance.
