The dimmed, desolate halls of Beacon Hills High roared to life as Lydia Martin and you strode through the building's doors. Your best friend absolutely owned the attention, as she always did, while you offered friendly smiles to any eyes that met yours. The strawberry blonde linked her arm with yours as your matching heels clicked across the linoleum tile. She leaned in close to whisper in your ear.

"Hottie on your left." She informed, your gaze traveling to her designated coordinates and landing on a teenage boy who eyed you like his next meal. Your stomach quivered, and not in the good way. Sending the male an awkward curl of your lips, you shot a glare at the girl as you opened your lockers to gather the required books for first period. After some heavy kissing up to the school board, you managed to have your lockers directly beside one another.

"You know I don't like being objectified, Lyds." You grumbled, plucking out a few notebooks and textbooks. "Just because I like wearing skirts and heels doesn't mean that I'm asking for extra attention. I just like feeling hot."

"And you look hot, babe, really." Lydia convinced, a genuine smile spilling across her lips as her green eyes sparkled with honesty. "I'm just saying that having a boyfriend isn't the worst thing in the world."

"Harassing Y/N about her love life again, I see." Allison Argent, our third musketeer, observed. She coyly shook her head in a disapproving manner. "You don't always have to be dating some jock in order to find fulfilment in your life."

"Coming from the girl who's already snatched up a piece of man candy herself." Lydia pointed out, eyes squinting knowingly.

"Oh, come on, Lyds," You tried to defend, nudging your best friend's shoulder with your own. Looking at your raven haired friend, you grinned. "I think it's cute how they've found something so real at our age."

Allison blushed, while Lydia merely rolled her vibrant eyes, now clouded over with boredom. "Of course it's adorable, but that's not the type of thing that I'm after. It's high school! It's too early for me to be looking for future husband material; what I need is a distraction."

"I want my own Scott." You ignored the girl beside you, turning to Allison instead. "Where can I get one?"

"Sorry," She shrugged, a calm grin washing over her features. "They're one of a kind."

As Allison and Lydia ventured onto different topics of conversation, your mind faded away from the words falling from their lips as you sensed a pair of eyes glued to your face. You allowed your eyes to wander until they locked onto a familiar set of anxious amber ones. You gulped as you continued to retain eye contact with none other than Stiles Stilinski himself, too comfortable in his timid gaze to look away. A slight smile slowly spread across his face, and you couldn't help but return the action. You didn't predict this happening to you today, but you were glad it did.

If it hadn't been for the obnoxious school bell rattling through the speakers, who knows how long the two of you would have kept gazing at one another. You jumped slightly at the loud noise, Stiles having the same reaction. Scott McCall, who was basically Stiles's equivalent to your Lydia, looked at him in amusement before sending a smile your way. You nervously reciprocated, sucking your lip in between your teeth as Stiles threw one last smile your way before taking off.

As the school day—filled with countless tests and attempts to rid a certain brown-eyed beauty from your mind—drew to a close, you found yourself hiding from the rest of society in the music room. Your fingertips fluttered about the keys of the piano before you, choreographing a spontaneous dance as they went. Each note and each chord teamed together to pull you deeper and deeper into the colorful abyss of the tunes materializing in the air.

A shaky breath escaped you, before you began humming along to the music you were creating. As you grew more comfortable with yourself, you began to sing aloud. Your eyes slid to a close as you allowed yourself to feel the music, the piano keys feeling soft under your fingertips. Body swaying to the melodious tune, you teleported into another world; a world full of peace. In this world, everyone got along, you parents were still together—and you still spoke to them, for that matter—studying for tests became easy, Lydia was your biological sister, and you had somebody to call yours. You were happy, completely and utterly confident in what the future had in store for you. You were no longer scared of what may come, for you already had everything you could ever need.

As the last lyric fell from your lips, the last key pressed under the weight of your finger, you sighed contentedly to yourself. A small grin broke out across your face.

Hearing the slightest scuff of a sneaker, your head shoots up and you find Stiles Stilinski peering at you. Your heart stutters, hands crashing down onto the ivory keys in shock. The meshing of all the notes together made you cringe, before doing your best to compose yourself and look back up to your unexpected visitor. "Sorry, I—I didn't realize anyone was still here."

"No, you don't have to apologize!" He said quickly, his nearly confident demeanor from the morning having vanished entirely. Slowly, he carried himself further into the room. Bobbing his head toward the bench you were perched on, you swiftly scooted over to give him space to sit down. You swallowed thickly as your arms touched. "I—I actually think that you sounded really good."

"It wasn't that good." You chuckled quietly, turning away shyly to twiddle your thumbs. Having never played for anyone other than yourself, you weren't used to receiving compliments on your secret talents.

"No, Y/N, it was." He argued, nudging his arm into yours, causing you to look back up at him. His encapsulating amber eyes connected with yours, before flickering to your lips and back up. Gulping subtly, you leaned into him ever so slightly. His breath whisked across your cheeks as he spoke. "You're incredible."

"You're pretty great yourself." You returned with a small smirk, mustering up the courage to do so.

Silence dominated the room, its presence looming over you like an incoming storm. The longer you two sat together, eyes locked onto each other intensely, the stronger the clouds above grew.

"DoyouwanttogotoWinterFormalwithme?" He shot out, words slicing through the atmosphere like a spear.

"Really?" You were taken aback, having sworn that he harbored feelings for your unbiological sister, the girl whose family had chosen to adopt you a few months ago after your parents left you. What could Stiles see in you? "You're serious?"

"I thought I was being pretty obvious." He chuckled nervously, as if bracing himself for the impending rejection.

"Right," You laughed timidly, your breath running away from you. "Yes, I'd love to go with you, Stiles."

He grinned, and the dark clouds parted to let the sun through. Its bright rays momentarily blinded you in his smile, and you couldn't help but gaze at him in awe as you reciprocated the action. He patted his lap excitedly as a happy laugh left him. "Great! I—"

The moment was interrupted by the vibrating phone rumbling against the piano bench. He sent an apologetic look your way as he tugged the device from his back pocket. A small frown etched over his features as his eyes scanned the screen. "I should get going. Scott's wondering where I am."

"Go on, then." You nudged him again with a forgiving smile. "Don't wanna keep your lover waiting."

"I should say the same about you and Lydia." He teased back, bumping you back as he got up. Tossing his bag over his shoulder, he sent you one last grin and a wave as he approached the door. "I'll be seeing you, then."

"You bet your ass you will."

One last laugh, and he was gone.

Finally giving yourself the chance to breathe, you slouched forward in your seat and propped your arms up against the piano. Staring at absolutely nothing in particular, an awestruck grin took over your features. Looking down at the instrument sitting in front of you, you couldn't help but wonder if the object was your good luck charm. Whenever you played it, an excellent fortune would be handed to you.

You couldn't help but wonder if there was more good fortune to come.
