Chapter Ten

''Ok, so as I said earlier, this year's budget for the management and allocation of--"

Anya butt in. "This is a little too much, I don't approve it. Half of the money should be put in the reconstruction and maintenance--"

"This proposal was already approved by the board a year ago."

"Yes and that proposal was exactly a YEAR ago, new innovation has been made by our competitors, we need to catch up.''

Julian's mouth formed a thin line as his jaw clenched. "That changes is not yours to decide.''

''I am a member of the board. Considering my part in this company I have the right to make changes.''

Anya smiled at him, it was so sickeningly sweet na parang nag iba ang sikmura ng ibang board. Did they think na sila lang ang tao sa loob?

Napa iling si Nick habang tinitingnan ang dalawa mahihiya ang mga abogado sa heated ng discussion nila, wala gustong magpalamang.

''Ok.'' Putol niya sa dalawa. ''How about this:  both of you will make proposals and we, the remaining boards, will try to discuss and somewhat revise them so that it will cater both to your plans?''

Tiningnan ako ng ibang boards na parang angel na dinalaw sila, ningitian ko lang sila pabalik dahil ako din naman, sa haba ng diskusyunan nila pakiramdam ko tutunog na ang tiyan ko sa gutom.

Nang nagkaroon ng truce ang dalawang kampo ay daling umuwe  na ang lahat.

"I really love how you traded insults with her." Sabi ko kay Julian ng kami na lang ang naiwan sa conference hall.

"She'll hear more of it, if she continue to stick her nose longer on my business." he said lowly, but it held a warning tone.

Tapos ilang sandali ay may tumawag sa kanya, nang sagutin niya ito, hindi nakalagpas sa mga mata ko ang pagkakaluwag ng mukha niya.

"So, care to share?" Pagmamarites ko.

"It was initially one, now I got two."

He continued. "I did a background check on Anya and he informed me that he have the results.''

''And?''

He paused for a matter of second and sighed. "The other one was for searching Ysabelle."

I widened my eyes by this surprise, I didn't saw that coming.

"T-that was 4 years ago since she disappeared."

''I will find her, kahit saan siya lupalop napadpad mahahanap ko siya.''

I think my mouth just formed an 'O' shaped then he looked at me determinedly

"Hey" Bati ko kay Anya nang maabutan ko siya sa hallway nang iniwanan ko si Julian, pansin ko na hinihila nito ang buhok, naipit pala ito sa likod ng zipper ng damit niya. Sinuri ko ang kapaliguran wala namang tao. ''I will try to open your zipper a little ok?''

Saglit lang ito nag isip saka tumango.

''Thanks.'' Nahila na ni Anya ang buhok niya pero hindi ako sumagot nanigas ang daliri ko sa zipper  at ang mata ko sa likod niya.

"What the hell Nick?!" She hissed at me, sino ba naman ang hindi nang walang sabi na hinila ko siya papasok sa bakante na silid at ni lock ang pinto. I need to confirm something.

Sinandal ko siya sa pader at nang hinawakan ko ang kaliwang tenga niya ay isang sampal ang sumalubong sa akin.

''This is not funny Nickos Chen.'' Pagbabanta niya.

Lumalim ang tingin ko sa kanya na siya namang pinagtataka ni Anya. My thumb was slowly pressing her left ear and when I feel something ay dali ko iyon tiningnan. I saw the red mole underneath.

''Your birthmark and this..''

A sly smile formed on my lips; the puzzle is now solved.

Yes, I still remembered the child I used to played with when I was a little and  how I rescued her from a house fire when I was a child myself.

Nagdadabog pa nga ako noon nang nagdesisyon na ang mga parents ko na bumalik na sa aming tahanan dahil tapos na ang bakasyon namin sa Salvacion, when in fact gusto ko pang bantayan sa ospital.

Blame on this stupid thing called 'crush' worse is, pagbalik ko ng Salvacion after so many years. I witnessed how she got married and that was my first heartbreak.

''I remember how you undressed in front of your playmate, wearing only your ugly little duck panty. Oh how horrified he was back then.'' I laid my trap.

"Excuse me?! That was because he put a fcking spider on my dress---" Hindi na siya natapos ng pagsasalita at mabilis na tinakpan niya ang kanyang bibig nang marinig ang mahina kong pagtawa. 

"Too late." I mumbled as I crossed his arms and take a few steps towards her which made her stumbled back.

"I think we should talk..Anya.." A wide grin masked on my entire face, taking the pleasure of witnessing her haunted expression.

 "Or should I say..." I raised my eyebrow.

 "Ysabelle."

This is going to be fun.
