Y/n POV

After walking away from Kara's desk I had already grabbed my shirt and headed back to my own desk. My heart was still racing after talking with Kara. I'm not afraid of her, and I need her to know that. How could I be? I whipped out my phone and as I was about to text my parents, Ms. Grant's fingers were in my face. "HELLOOO! Are you still awake lover boy?" "What the hell?" "Oh, right, Kara. Pshh, I wish."

I looked her square in the face as I spoke, attempting to be a gentleman, "Why of course Ms. Grant. What can I do for you?" She narrowed her eyes at me before continuing, "I need you to do anything you can to find out who our mystery savior is from last night. Pronto."

She sauntered away giving orders to everyone else in the office like what she had just asked of me wasn't insane. "Uh-Huh, no problemo, Ms. G." I said awkwardly. She turned her neck to shoot me a few more daggers before disappearing back into her office no doubt to talk to whoever just came in. "Poor bastards," I thought, "Better you that me I guess."

It took me a few more moments to fully process what finding the "mystery chick" from last night actually meant. She wasn't actually a mystery per se, at least not to me. I looked to Kara to find her eyes already trained on me. She looked nervous, and I felt for her. "Meet me in the copying room." I Whispered from my seat at my desk.

I stood in the room for maybe a solid minute before Kara made her way in. She looked at me with an expression that made me sad. "Look," she started and I felt my heart ache. "If you want to rat me out to Ms. Grant, I completely understand, given that your job is most likely on the line." She finished and looked at me.

I vigorously shook my head, refusing to let her shoulder this alone. I just opened my arms for her, allowing her to fill the space. She gripped at the back of my shirt firmly, squeezing me as tight as she could without harming me. And we just stood there, in silence until I heard a sniffle. That's when I'd had enough. I grabbed her by the shoulders and pulled her away looking her in the face, in her eyes.

"There's no way in hell I'm snitching on you, Kara." I gritted out to keep my anger under control. "Snitches get stitches, remember?" She closed her eyes and let out a soft chuckle, "Yeah, yeah, snitches get stitches." Her eyes suddenly widened a fraction, and then in an instant she was gone. I looked up to the ceiling, wiping my eyes. "Okay, okay, get ahold of yourself, Y/n." I closed my eyes and took a few deep breaths before opening them again, leaving the room.
