Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a princess. A very sad princess.
How could she not be?
Her mother had been murdered before her eyes, and her father was no more than a king to her, ruler of a land overtaken by turmoil.
But she never lost hope.
Not when her father died, not when a man her people feared became their king.
Not when they took away her memories.
"Princess, the spell they mean to put on you is already dangerous. With the addition you want me to make, I'm afraid—"
"We have no time to fear the outcomes of the decisions that must be taken, Castor. There is no choice to make."
A sigh. "You must understand, the removal of memories already puts you at great risk. The alterations you speak of, Princess, you may never be you again."
A smile with its true meaning well hidden. "Then pray that the girl who takes your princess's place is a better ruler than I'll ever be."
"Princess—"
"I have no time, Castor. Will you help me, or should I find another way?"
A pause. "I will do whatever you command, my Queen. And then I will pray."
