Lesson 5: Start. Off. Strong.

The harsh reality of Wattpad is people are gonna think your story sucks from the start. You have to impress them to keep them reading.

And the only chance you got to impress them is at the very start. Wheather it be the prologue, or the first chapter.

Sad thing, and this happened to me, is that my start of "Wait For Me To Come Home." Had about 1000 reads, but chapter 2 only has about half. I didn't hook my readers with that starting chapter.

You have to start your story off strong. Have a hook, and wrap the reader into your story. Introduce your character and his traits, and then introduce the love interest.

^That only works for romance stories. Like I said, that's the way that I write so I can only provide tips on that.

At the end of the first chapter/prologue, leave with a cliff hanger. That'll force the reader to read the next chapter.

In conclusion, you have to treat your start like a hot date with Yuri...

Give it everything you got.
