When Alena woke up, she was terrified for a second because she couldn't remember how she ended up at an inn room. Everything came back to her, though, when a crushing headache made her sit up and a loud snore echoed in the room from Will's direction.

Then she started panicking because she couldn't see Violet anywhere, and she clearly remembered that her friend had told her she would return soon from her walk.

Clutching her forehead, she got out of bed and got out in the hallway, searching for her.

She almost bumped into Violet as she was going down the stairs.

"Where are you off to?", Violet asked her.

"Oh, I was just looking for you. I panicked a little at first, I couldn't remember what happened."

"I'm so sorry! Cheryl needed to talk about something and I had to go as soon as I returned...", Violet frowned.

"Don't worry about it, Will's snores snapped me back to reality.", Alena reassured her.

"Good to know.", she laughed. "Care to join me for another walk?"

"What about Will?"

"I doubt he's waking up any time soon.", Violet shrugged.

"I'd love to join you for a walk, but I have this terrible headache. We could go up on the roof, though?", Alena suggested instead.

"Sure! Anything to get to know you better.", Violet grinned at her. "Come on."

It was freezing up on the roof, but they didn't really mind. They sat down on the edge, their feet dangling in the air, and huddled near each other.

"So... Tell me more about yourself.", Violet told Alena after a few moments of silence.

"Why do I have to start?", Alena laughed.

"Because I asked first."

"Fair enough... Well, you already know most things, I guess. I'm bad luck and most people blame it on my inclination towards dark magic- which, I swear, isn't as bad as it sounds. I just don't understand why people are so scared of the dark... I find it comforting and it gives me a sense of freedom. No one can see you and you can see no one, so you can do whatever you want without the fear of being judged. Light is the scary part... In the dark you can't see the world's ugliness, but the light makes everything visible. Light is cruel. Not to mention that it makes your eyes hurt when it's too much... I'm so tired of being asked whether I prefer looking at the stars or the moon. Maybe I prefer looking at the color of the night sky and seeing it as a whole..."

"When you put it that way, I can see why you're so frustrated. As someone who spent half her childhood being afraid of the dark, I can safely say that it took me too long to realise that it wasn't the darkness that scared me, but how vast it was. It is so full and you think it might explode any second. You can't know what happens next, because all you can see is absolutely nothing and everything at the same time."

"That's one way of seeing it..."

They said nothing for a few minutes.

"How did you find out earth was your element?", Alena asked.

"I dont know and I'm still not that sure if that's it, but I guess I always wanted some sort of stability in my life. I was pretty young when my father left me and my mother, yet I couldn't help but notice how drastically things changed. Then our clans started fighting and suddenly my mom was in a coma. I had to grow up with two of her friends. Everything around me changes so fast, that I'm starting to get used to it and I really don't want that to happen... This has been affecting my relationships too. I'm scared of missing out, so I always go really fast when I'm with someone. Things got a little out of hand with Tristan and I'm starting to think that maybe even if he hadn't died, we wouldn't have worked out. I loved him, but not in the way I was supposed to. It's just... everything was so hectic and terrifying, that I lost control of myself and found myself on a relationship I don't think I would have been in if my life had been more peaceful. It was fun while it lasted, but I definitely should be more careful casting irreversible spells when drunk."
