Chapter 43 - Downfall

Inabutan ako ni Cole ng chocolate. "Happy Valentine's, Mor."

"Thanks!" I said then eyed him. "Himala.. wala kang date?"

"Good boy 'to noh!" Hinampas pa niya ang sariling dibdib.

We sat there together while I'm waiting for Eris. Tinignan ko ang phone ko pero walang text galing kay Eris. Nung hindi na ako nakatiis tsaka ako nagtanong, "Umuwi ba talaga si Eris?"

Because if he just left me to plan for some surprise I will be really mad dahil sayang ang oras at hindi ko kailangan ng kung ano man surprise 'yan.

"Kahit gusto ko siyang pagtakpan hindi ko magawa because Mor, he really went home." He sighed, "Nakiusap pa siyang samahan kita."

Bigla akong umiling. "Seryoso? Cole! Kung may lakad ka go lang. Hindi naman ako bata na kailangan bantayan."

Una ay ayaw pa niya dahil nakapag-oo na siya kay Eris at ayaw niyang bawiin ang salita niya. I had to push him repeatedly just to go. Tumanggi siya pero napilit ko rin siya sa huli.

Bumalik rin ako sa unit ko pagkaalis ni Cole dahil nakakahiya naman tumambay mag-isa sa unit nila. Humiga nalang ako sa kama at nagcellphone habang nagaantay. Buti nalang at wala ang mga roommates ko dahil baka maiyak ako sa lungkot pag icocomfort pa nila ako. Nagsabi rin ako kay Eris na pinaalis ko na si Cole at bumalik ako sa unit.

Medyo late na rin nang may kumatok sa unit. Bumangon ako agad dahil kung ako lang ang kumakatok sa unit nila Eris, the same could be said for him.

My eyes burned the moment I saw what he is carrying. Natakpan ang mukha niya ng malaking bouquet. I don't even know what to say so I just stood there on the verge of crying and called out his name.

He lowered the roses and hugged me. "Happy Valentine's babe. Sorry emergency lang talaga."

"I hate you." I said.

Humalakhak siya at inabot sa akin ang bulaklak. Tinanggap ko 'yun at nilapag sa mesa. "Pasok ka."

Hindi siya gumalaw. Instead nginitian niya ako ng nakakaloko at bigla akong kinabahan dahil paniguradong may kalokohan siya.

"Come." He said.

I followed him to his unit but he just ask me to stay outside. Turns out kumuha lang siya ng wine. "What the-- Eris!" I said while laughing.

He smuggled another bottle again! One day I'm really going to ask him to show me how he did it. He is carrying a bottle and two wine glasses in one hand and the other he use to pull me. He brought me to our haven.

The rooftop.

"Ano 'to!" Sabi ko.

There are blankets and pillows and two boxes of pizza. Even a candle!

"When did you prepare all this?"

"Just now." He chuckled.

"Pinapaiyak mo naman ako, e!" Sabi ko habang nakatingala.

He knew exactly what kind of date I want. I want this. Simple and romantic in the place that belong to the two of us.

"I'm glad you like it."

Ngiti ang sinagot ko. I never expected this from him but to think that he carried the blanket up here and prepared all this last minute really touched me.

"To us." He held up his glass.

"To us." I said and clinked our glass.

May hinahanap siyang kung ano sa likod niya 'yun pala cellphone niya. Tumunog ang isang pamilyar na kanta na ilang araw akong na-LSS kasalanan niya.

Then he stood up and bowed like a true gentleman and offered his hand. I happily obliged.

"Remember the first time we dance to this song?" He asked.

"Yeah. It was in your unit with me barefooted."

"It was." I felt him smile in my cheek. "I want you to know that at that time I already fell for you. You made me fall for you with your bratty attitude, witty comebacks and careless laugh. But what made me fell hard was when you walk right into my unit in the middle of the night and start stripping down."

I had to punch him because of that and he laughed.

"I'm serious. I like when you fit just right to my body. Especially when you sigh before snuggling close to me."

All the things he said he just whispered it which made the moment more intimate and sincere. Start palang ng speech niya pinipigilan ko na maiyak pero hindi ko na talaga mapigilan at tumulo na 'yung luha ko. I wiped it while laughing. "Ano ba 'yan. Bakit mo ba ako pinapaiyak?"

"I love you, Mor." He smiled and placed a kiss on my forehead.

We stayed for a moment more and just laid there while watching the sky. Walang stars na makikita but I don't need stars to be happy. I'm contented with just having him here. I couldn't ask for more because I already have what I need.

Bumaba na kami dala dala ang bote ng alak at natirang pizza pero naiwan ang mga kumot dahil siya na daw ang kukuha.

"Thank you for tonight." I said.

He nodded and jerked his chin to my unit. "Good night."

I hesitated because what I want to say is on the tip of my tongue already but in the end I just nodded and turned.

But I stopped before reaching the door and called out. "Babe."

He turned abruptly and his eyes widen while suppressing a smile. "What did you say?"

Seeing his face I can't help but smile too.

"Say it again." He said.

"Babe?"

"Fuck!" I heard him mutter.

Nagmura pa siya ng maraming beses habang pinapanood ko lang siya. I'm amused because he looked so adorable while muttering to himself.

He want me to repeat it again but instead of repeating I said something better.

"I love you." I said.

In a matter of seconds he managed to put down the wine glasses and pizza and close our distance.

"What?" But a smile is playing on his lips.

"I love you, Eris." I said it again.

He slide his hand to hold my hand and said, "You know one day you're gonna be my downfall."
