Chapter 8 - Bucket

I'm not sure what to feel to Eris' constant taunts. I know they're just taunts to irritate me and I don't want to be affected because that will satisfy him but I can't help but to be.

Babae ako and of course I will be affected by what he's doing! Kahit sinong babae may mararamdaman pag gwapo ang lumalandi sa kanya.

As much as I want to shut him out I can't. By can't I mean I really can't. Apparently it's not enough that I get to see him at school but I have to see him at dinners too or at our chill night outs.

At anong sinabi niya nung Friday? Interesting? Hindi ko alam na interesting ako para sa kanya. That definitely messed up with my head for the whole night.

"Tara samahan na kita maglakad." Jake appeared beside me while I'm on my way to the gate.

Jake isn't helping too. Alam ko kung anong ginagawa niya. Araw araw gusto niya ako samahan? At sinusubukan pa rin niya ako yayain kumain pero hindi ako pumapayag pag kain.

Lumingon ako at wala ako nakitang Eris. What happened to him being sort of my bodyguard? Right. Because I told him I won't need his help ever.

With a sigh I faced him. "Okay."

"Kailan pala kayo naging close ni Eris?"

Close? That's not a word I would use to describe our relationship.

But of course he doesn't need to know that because for him we are close. Closer than ever!

With a smile I answered. "Lately lang."

"Nililigawan ka ba niya o kayo na?"

I shrugged nonchalantly. "So, kamusta naman kayo ng girlfriend mo?"

He paused from walking. I see that put him off. Ayaw niyang pagusapan ang girlfriend niya? Well, then paguusapan namin.

"Saan pala kayo nagkakilala?" Sunod sunod ang tanong ko and I can feel his uneasiness with every question I asked. "And gaano na kayo katagal? She must be nice."

"Yeah she is. We, uh, broke up."

Ako naman ang napatigil sa narinig. Last time lang he's parading his new girlfriend in front of me and now they'd broke up?

I feel stupid for what I did. All of that for nothing.

"Um.. sorry."

I'm surprised he hadn't walked out on me yet after that. Tahimik lang kami habang naglalakad at nagiisip na ako ng sasabihin ko pagdating sa tower pero nauna na siya.

"Pwede ba tayong magusap?"

Inayos ko ang strap ng bag ko. I'm not sure we have something to talk about right now and this better not be what I'm thinking.

Sensing my hesitation he added, "Kahit sandali lang."

Tumango ako at tinignan siya. The moment I look at his face I already knew what it is. He wanted to talk about us.

"Somewhere uh, more private."

Gusto kong magback out. My brain wanted me to but I'm already finding my feet to the elevator and him trailing behind me.

Sa pool area ko siya dinala at umupo ako sa chair doon. Konti lang ang nandoon mostly 'yung mga batang nagswiswimming lessons.

Tumango siya at umupo rin sa tapat ko.

"Gusto kong magsorry sa treatment ko sayo dati. I know I've been an ass and there's no making up to it but if we can, I want to start over. Promise hindi ko na ulit gagawin mga pagkakamali ko."
