Sadness is pretty overwhelming.

It can hit like a train,
Or like a wave in the ocean.

It comes out of nowhere,
And next thing you know you're drowning in open water and you can't seem to find a way to the surface.

You have sand underneath your feet,
And you have life surrounding you,
But yet,
you still feel dead.

You can kick and swim,
Until your legs give out,

But sometimes it feels like you never make it.

Sometimes it's like you swim endlessly and tire out your limbs but you never move from your spot.

You watch the waves rolling above you,

And the grey skies moving just out of reach,

But you can't remember what it feels like to have wind on your face anymore,
Or your hair being tossed by a breeze.

All you feel is the cold water,
As it soaks into your skin and fills your lungs.

Sadness is a lot like drowning.
