odd things were happening to anne. and not the normal odd things.

the first odd happening was when anne found a pink ribbon on her desk. she asked all the girls and even boys but none of them knew whose it was or who had placed it there. it was awful pretty, but when she got home she couldn't help but cry. surely someone was playing a cruel joke, giving her something so beautiful that she shan't ever be able to wear. everyone knows that those cursed with red hair were never able to wear pink. she ended up giving the ribbon to diana, whose beautiful black hair made the ribbons look even more beautiful.

on the next day she found a pink english rose on her desk, with a card bedside it. anne, it said, except it seemed the pen had splattered while the person was writing her name and so instead it said ann, with an ink splatter over the e. how ugly the splatter looked. it ruined everything. it was a stain on the beautiful silver-lined card. it was how she felt, how everyone surely saw her. whoever had been harassing her with these 'gifts' surely wanted her to suffer.

on wednesday there was a handkerchief. it was pink, like the ribbon and the rose, except it was offensively pink. this person was taunting her, bullying her with these tragedy-inducing paraphernalia.

on thursday there was a silver cross on a chain. it was as if they were mocking her. this poltergeist using such an insulting gift. how dare this demon invoke the lord in their silly game!

on friday it all made sense. she walked into class to find another 'gift', and it was the worst of them all. a carrot. how delusional was this person to think they could mess with anne shirley! she heard someone come up behind her, and the sound of teeth eating what she assumed was a carrot filled her with rage. like lightning she spun around and slapped the person across the face.

"anne!" yelled a familiar voice. "what was that for?"

"gilbert?" she gasped, with shock laced through her words like a tapestry.

"i got you a ribbon and a rose and a handkerchief and a necklace and you slap me!"

anne slapped a hand across her mouth before narrowing her eyes. "You also brought me a carrot. and everything was pink."

"what's wrong with pink?"

anne blushed. "pink doesn't look nice redheads like me."

"i think you'd look nice in any colour." he blurted, before reddening. he sighed. "i'm sorry, anne." they both knew he wasn't just apologising for some dumb joke.

"well...i forgive you." they also both knew she wasn't just forgiving him for some dumb joke.

ANOTHER ONE
I don't really like how this one ended tbh
