"Why?"

This was the only question in Haya's mind. Why would her own cousin betray her?

This was unbelievable but unfortunately, true. This is why she never trusted people.

She trusted Amaan but he never returned it

She trusted Samreen and she shattered it

"WHY??" Haya shouted

"I am sorry" Samreen answered between her sobs

But this wasn't what Haya needed right now. She was done with Sorrys and forgiving every person. She was done with the lies and betrayals.

"I said Why?" She seethed in anger.

"He blackmailed me" reasoned Samreen

"What did he had to blackmail you?" Asked Amaan

"I met him two days after your wedding." Samreen started "He bewitched me with his charm. He acted sweet and i...i.."

"And you slipped into his tricks" Haya completed her sentence, maybe not the way Samreen would have wanted to but that didn't mattered. At the end, this was the jist of everything.

"I kept meeting him and i didn't knew how but he had taken our pictures together. He threatened to show them to my parents if i don't comply with him" Samreen had reached to her edge and broke into sobs which might have saddened Haya in normal situations

But it wasn't a normal situation

Right now, the only sound providing comfort to Haya were Samreen's cries.

Was it possible to detest someone so much in just a day?

Yes. It was.  Haya had never felt so much resentment for anyone else till now.

"If someone blackmailed you, the wise thing to do was to talk to us instead of selling us out" Amaan rebuked

"I was terrified. I..i  am so sorry. Only if I could go back and rectify everything.." Samreen stated

"But you can't. So you better shut up."

"Haya i---"

"I said shut the hell up!!" Yelled Haya, causing Samreen to flinch

After this, the eerie silence surrounded the room. There were just occasional sounds of Samreen's hiccups and nothing more. Even those hiccups angered Haya. The very realization of the presence of Samreen made her sick. She just wanted to get the hell out of this god damn place and never see Samreen's face again.

"Promise me something?" Amaan's voice broke the bewitched silence and as Haya glanced at him, she discovered thousands of emotions swimming in his eyes and she wondered whether he could also see the same in her eyes. Would he be able to understand how much she loved him?

Yes. She loved him!

It was so easy to confess it to herself, to agree with her own thoughts and feelings. However, confessing it to him was a whole different story for confessing her feelings to him meant opening up her heart. It meant being vulnerable. It meant the possibilities of facing the rejection. It meant trusting him with her secrets and soul. It meant giving herself to him and she didn't think she was ready for that..yet
