Prologue
New Rah was a city before the Gods fled. It used to house a third of the world’s population, the rest split among the cities of Ebonhawke and Faith’s Calling. The land of Rah was transformed, however, in ways unexplainable. The Sabres came - hulking feline beasts - and burned New Rah. The cities were supposed to be a safe haven, protected by the Gods. Yet they fled, and in their wake they left humanity to fight for its survival. The Defense of New Rah lasted, many of Ebonhawke’s city protectors - the Guardians - died. Many more were injured.
Ebonhawke has thankfully survived the years without the Gods. The city stands proud, its people are prepared to sacrifice everything for it. Many have. I fear they will be called upon again in the coming times, however, pushed to actions by forces uncontrollable by the Gods. Forces that are stronger than they. Forces that are evil, impure at their very core. And without our protection, I can only hope the prophecy succeeds.
