" Megan I have really good news!" Isabella said in a chipper tone as she Megan opened the front door.

"Where were you?" Megan asked coldly.

"I was celebrating Christmas with-"

"Dax and his wonderful family?" Megan asked.

"Megan I called you on Christmas eve to let you know I'd be with Dax and Dylan, but no one answered." Isabella tried to explain.

"That's because we were driving to see you! When we got to that freaking mansion no one was home. Kyle cried for hours because he didn't get to spend Christmas with you, oh and he picked this out for you." Megan said as she shoved the gift into Isabella's hands, then she closed the door in Isabella's face.

Isabella stared at the door for a while, then she turned around and walked back to her car. Isabella sat in her car and opened her present. It was a collage of all the pictures she and Kyle had taken together since he was an infant, and the pictures were placed in a giant frame. Isabella began to cry.

Today was a very bad day for her, and this was just the beginning. She drove back to her home and crawled into bed and cried some more.

"Babe, I'm going to the doctor okay?" Dax said, he was about to continue but he saw Isabella crying. "What's wrong?"

"I went to tell my sister about our engagement, but she was mad that I didn't spend Christmas with them, and then she just closed the door in my face." Isabella said through her sobs.

"Oh, baby girl, I'm so sorry. I didn't think about it, I should've let you go be with your family." Dax apologized as he hugged her.

"It's okay Dax, you and Dylan are my family too." Isabella gave him a weak smile.

"I'll just reschedule my appointment."

"No, go I'll be fine."

"I don't have to go."

"Go." Isabella said as she kissed his cheek.

"I love you."

"I love you, Dax."

And with that Dax took off to the doctor. Ever since his father's passing Dax and his mother decided they'd get a monthly check up to make sure they weren't ill. Dax and Maria were two healthy people.

When Dax's doctor finally called him back, Dax was so ready to get his check up over with. Of course it took a while to run the tests, he was trying to decide if he should just leave and get them to send his results in the mail or stay another hour and wait. They always said the same thing every time so he felt like it was pointless to be there.

"It's nice to see you again Mr. Walker." Dr. Nealson said as he walked in the door.

"How are you Dr. Nealson? " Dax asked.

"I'm fine thank you. I have good news."

"As always." Dax spoke.

"And I have some bad news."

Dax's face instantly dropped.

"The bad news is?"

"The bad news is you have stage one lung cancer Mr. Walker. The good news is we've caught it early on and we can work towards treating it."

"I have lung cancer." Dax repeated.

After Dax was done talking to his doctor he sat in his car and stared at the wheel. He took out his phone to call Isabella then he changed his mind. He decided it'd be better to tell her in person. The drive back home felt longer than usual to Dax. A million things traveled through his mind as he drove home.
