  Hold me in your arms as twilight touches the night sky,

Press me to your chest so I can feel the warmth one last time,

Kiss the constellations down my back before the morning takes it all away.

  Love that burns as bright as a star can only last so long,

As the morning always comes,

And even during the brightest time of day,

A star cannot outshine the sun.

  So while the night is calm,

And the star blazes willingly,

While the moon reflects it's pale light;

  Just hold me once more,

Before our light burns out,

And the dawn wakes up the sky.

  Author's Note:

So this poem is a bit of a side-step from what I usually write about in these love poems, this one is talking about knowing that a breakup is going to happen, whether you want it to or not. While most people don't like the feeling of breaking up, being the person to the breaking up is just as hard because you have to be the one to look at the person you still care about on certain levels and say something about them is too much. Or things just weren't working out for whatever reason. That is what I try and put into poetry with this piece, because there is still heartbreak with being the one who brings all the cracks to the light and showing how broken things really are.

Till the next poem, ~J
