Chad and I had been dating for a month now and it seemed like Harry didn’t like him all that much. Even though he had never met him. So it took a lot of pleading, but I finally convinced Harry to meet him. We sat there in the café waiting for Chad. “So what do you see in this guy anyway?” he said a bit bitterly.

“He’s sweet Haz, and his eyes are so blue. Bluer than Louis’.”

“Ah... That’s it then,” he smiled wide with a knowing glint in his eyes.

“What’s ‘it then’?” I imitated as I smile at him.

“I know you. You fell in love with his eyes.”

I smiled, blushed and looked towards the door, “Oh there he is.” I got up to hug Chad. “Chad this is my best friends Harry. Haz, this is my boyfriend, Chad.”

“How do you do?” Chad stuck out his hand.

“Good, mate.” Harry smiled a fake smile and shook his hand firmly.

We spent the day relaxing and I tried to urge them to get to know each other better. I could tell that Harry didn’t like him, but I pretended not to notice.  Chad seemed to be all over me more than usual kissing me, holding me, and pinching my bum. I got the feeling he was trying to show Harry who was boss, in a sense. I almost felt like a prize and Chad was showing Harry why he is the winner. I could tell Harry was uncomfortable with it all, so when he used some lame excuse to leave I let it slide. “Alright Haz, I’ll see you later.”

“Bye,” he said curtly as he strolled away.

Chad and I headed back to his place and I made us some hot chocolate. “So what did you think of Harry?” I asked sipping.

He chuckled a little under his breath, “Ah, yeah. I didn’t like him.”

“Why not?” I asked curiously with furrowed brows.

“I don’t want you to be his friend anymore.”

I chuckled in disbelief, “That’s not going to happen.”

He grabbed my arm tightly and I could see anger in his eyes as he barked out his next statement, “Listen to me! I don’t want you around him anymore.”

“Chad let go you’re hurting me!” I said my voice cracking a bit.

His eyes changed from anger to regret and he released my arm, “Natalie, I-I’m so sorry.” He took a step towards me and I backed away.

A look of hurt crossed his face but I couldn’t find it in me to care as I stumbled away from him. I grabbed my keys and ran out the door, fear still twisting my stomach. That was the first time Chad ever laid a hand on me and the first time I had ever been scared of him.
