Chapter 7

You know what the best thing in life is when you’re in school, the fact that the week goes quick. I’m surprised Luke still hasn’t figured out that I like his sister. At lunch time I was talking to Calum about tonight and Luke sat down looking confused and Michael said

“What’s wrong Luke”?

“She smiled”

“What do you mean she smiled”?

“Anna, she smiled for the first time since the accident” Michael looked at me across the table and I rolled my eyes I couldn’t possibly have anything to do with that smile could I? Luke started to smile and Michael said

“Do you know the reason”?

“No I don’t what if it’s about a boy”?

“Well whoever this guy is must be curing her” Calum said, Michael kept looking at me and his eyebrows kept going up and down, I rolled my eyes.

“I guess so” said Luke having a bit of his burger smiling a bit. Well Luke is going to be surprised when he sees me tonight.

Anna and I were working on our art project and Anna said

“So Irwin, what time are you picking me up?”

“I guess around 7 if that’s okay”

“Yeah that’s fine” the bell rang and it was time for home, Anna and I packed away our things and put our project away so we can work on it on Monday, once that was done Anna said

“I better get home”

“Hang on let me walk you home” I said cleaning the final paint brush

“Don’t you have a bus to catch”?

“No I don’t I walk home, I only catch the bus in the morning because I’m too tied to walk”

“Fair enough” We grabbed our bags heading outside and we walked home together talking about our teachers and how serious the principal always is. When we arrived outside her house I said

“So I guess I’ll see you tonight Irwin”

“I’ll see you tonight pink tips” I said winking at her and smiling, and she smiled back showing her pearly white teeth her smile was perfect she ran inside and I walked back the other way going to my house.

Luke’s P.O.V

I was sitting at my computer on Facebook waiting for Michael and Calum to come round to pick me up for the bonfire, mum and dad went out on a date so I had to check to see if Anna is going to be okay by herself I don’t care if she is my older sister to me at the moment I act like her older brother but I’m not, I walked into Anna’s room and I saw clothes being thrown across the room one nearly hit me causing me to duck

“Anna”? Anna turned around and looked at me “What’s going on here, it looks like a mini cyclone happened”?

“Just cleaning out my room I guess”

“Alright well I was wondering if you’re going to be okay tonight”

“Yeah I’ll be fine going out tonight geez you sound like dad”

“Wait, you’re going out tonight with who”

“And here we go” she said “Luke I’m going to the bonfire someone asked me to go”

“As in a date”?

“No just as friends”

“So who is this guy?”

“Luke, would you stop acting like dad and just act like my younger brother”

“Fine, so who is he”

“You’ll see him soon, his picking me up in 5 minutes and I don’t know what to wear”

“Just wear shorts and shirt anyway why do you care you said you’re just going as friends”

“Yeah but I don’t know I guess I’ll just wear shorts and shirt”

“And take a jumper it gets cold down there”

“Yes dad” the door knocked and I ran downstairs alright let’s see who this guy is I opened the door to see Ashton standing there in jeans and shirt and wearing some freaking hat and I got confused

“Ashton, what are you doing here”?

“I uh”

“Hey Irwin” said Anna standing next to me, walking out the door. What the hell was going on?

“Irwin, what”?

“I’ll see you at the bonfire Luke” Anna said waving to me, I did a confusing wave and they walked off I shut the door behind me and that’s when I knew Ashton was the guy, Ashton is the guy making Anna smile for first time again I don’t know whether to be mad at Ashton because Anna is my sister or be happy because Anna is slowly going back to her old self again.
