“Uhh… Well we got these microphones right,” I heard Nathan say through the earpiece, “And we can communicate to any of the band by talking through them. So they can basically hear us speaking right now,” he continued, “But they can’t reply so I could say…” he paused and I stood looking over the crowd as the seats filled and the moshpit grew. “Richie and Tom… No I can’t that’s too rude for the younger audience,” he said before continuing to call Dave a fat midget.

“Like that’s not discriminating,” I joke to Dave, the drummer on tour. He laughed and shook his fist,

“When I get my hands on him,” he joked.

“Like ships in the night letting cannon balls fly

Say what you mean and it turns to a fight

Fist fly from my mouth as it turns south

You're down the driveway... I'm on the couch

Chasing your dreams since the violent 5th grade

Trying to believe in your silent own way

Cause we'll be ok... I'm not going away

Like you watched at fourteen as it went down the drain

And Hip hops stayed the same and your mom’s moved away

How many of our parents seem to make it anyway

We're just fumbling through the grey

Trying find a heart that's not walking away

Turn the lights down low

Walk these halls alone

We can feel so far from so close

Like ships in the night

You keep passing me by

We're just wasting time

Trying to prove who's right

And if it all goes crashing into the sea

If it's just you and me trying to find the light

Like ships in the night

You're passing me by.”

“Your favourite lyrics?” Nathan asked and I itched the back of my neck and touched the side of my acoustic guitar.

“Sorta. I like the song,” I replied and looked up to smile at him. He smiled back and a bunch of loud laughter erupted from further down and Jay and Tom came bounding out and jumping over each other laughing loudly. I put my guitar away and watched cautiously from the couch as Martin came out shaking his head.

“You bloody boys!” he exclaimed while Jay was filming.

“That was hilarious!” Jay managed in stiches and leaning forward, clutching his stomach. I lifted an eyebrow and Tom came over, picking me up and held me in front of him facing an angry Martin.

“That’s poor sport!” I say as Martin turned to Jay instead.

“Life or death matters here Richie,” he said before pulling me into his chest and wrapped his arms around me tightly.

“Well that excuses it doesn’t it,” I joke and he turned me around to kiss me. I smiled and wrapped my hands around the back of his neck and felt my heart pick up its pace. Someone coughed; I think Nath and Tom flipped him off as his arms slid down to my waist.
