When I love someone
Getting hurt
Is a risk I'm willing to take.
He told me this
As we sat watching The Breakfast Club
As if it were the most casual thing
In the world.
As if it didn't matter
I told him he would get hurt
Because he simply
Didn't care.
I had another boy tell me
That if I thought he was going to leave
After seeing me a little messy
Psshhh, good luck with that.
I haven't had
Very many people stick around
So I'm sorry if it takes a few tries
To believe you.
A few tears and messy moments
To really believe you,
But one day I will,
Because I so desperately want to.
