Chapter Thirty- Nine
"I guess this is good bye?" Tara nodded. We were back at the base and the war was over. We were sitting on my cot in my tent. "I love you." I said as I threw myself at her, I pressed my lips against hers. She wrapped her arms around my neck and we kissed. I pushed her against the post by my bed and held her so tightly.
"I love you too." said Tara as she took a breather. "I wish we didn't have to part."
"I'll see you again." I said as I let her go and grabbed my sack. I turned around and waved at her before I went out the tent. I walked toward one of the recovery stations and stopped a nurse.
"Is Josie ready to take home?" I asked.
"Ready as she'll ever be." stated the nurse as I walked to Josie's bed. I slid my hands under her and lifted her off the bed. I walked to the stables where Diamond was saddled and ready. Just as I ordered.
l placed Josie on Diamond and covered her with a blanket. I took another horse Charlie and hooked him to Diamond. I mounted Charlie and rode off with Diamond trailing behind.
