Angelica

A random senior twirls me on the dance floor.

I notice Lizzy by herself.

She chooses to be that way.

It's not my fault.

I should at least try to make her have fun.

For once.

Then I'm ripped from my thoughts.

The boy.

From the hallway.

The new kid.

He's here.

He walks in as I'm finished twirling around.

He smiles at me.

Wait.

I stare behind me.

He's smiling at Eliza.

I sigh and get a drink.

The bar is filled with drinks that we aren't allowed to drink yet.

"Sam Adams."

I tell the junior behind the counter.

I have a list of people working at the bar at different times.

I don't even have to pay them.

They just do it.

It's because it's me.

If only someone actually loved me for me, and not just for my face.

_______________

About an hour later, the boy comes away from the balcony, looking confused.

As he's walking to leave, I stop him.

"Hi."

He jumps when he notices my presence.

"H-Hey."

The boy stutters like Porky Pig.

"You're the new kid, right?"

I know the answer.

It's just part of my plan.

"Yeah."

His voice smoothes out a bit.

"I'm Angelica Schuyler."

I shoot my hand out in front of me.

He hesitates for a moment, but shakes my hand.

"Alexander Hamilton."

I feel a bubbly little sister behind me.

"Oh! Hey Lizzy."

She doesn't hear me.

She's too focused on the boy.

"Elizabeth Schuyler. It's a pleasure to meet you."

I roll my eyes.

Always so formal.

Alexander smiles.

Smiles at Eliza.

"Alexander Hamilton."

She bows like a princess and skips away.

They really did seem to hit it off.

I hope they'll be satisfied if this works out.

She is my sister.

I know her like my own mind.

I'd choose her happiness over mine every time.

Eliza.
