Alex

After the blowout with Mr. Washington, I really needed some peace.

But of course, with my friends, that is not possible.

Lafayette comes stumbling into me, causing me to drop my folded up sausage.

"So sorry mon ami! I did not see you standing there."

He reaches down and picks up the folded up breakfast.

"What's this?"

I rub the back of my neck, realizing I forgot to pull my hair into a ponytail.

I take a band and wrap up my hair as I spoke.

"Just breakfast from Mrs. Washington."

He smirks.

"Can I have it?"

I shrug.

"Sure."

The thought of food made me gag. The thought of making myself even fatter made me cringe.

That's why dad left you, Alexander.

You're a fat, arrogant, worthless, piece of crap that nobody could love.

Mom was just too loving to not love you.

Lafayette snaps his fingers in my face.

"Earth to Alex?"

I chuckle.

"Yea, yea I'm here."

He takes a bite of the meat.

The bell rings, its call echoing through the halls.

I gather my books and trample to class.

___________

As the bell for third period rang, realization struck me.

I'm going to have to face Mr. Washington.

Dammit.

Couldn't wait until after you're out of their house could ya, Alexander?

I sigh and sulk to my locker.

A pair of hands cover my eyes.

"Guess who?"

I scoff.

"Classy, Laurens."

He chuckles.

I turn around and face the freckle faced boy.

"Yo, Alex did you hear about the party tonight?"

I squint to show I don't.

"It's at the Schuyler house, man! Their house is like...legit."

I scoff again.

Schuyler.

Where have I heard that?

Oh yeah!

"Will Eliza be there?"

He frowns.

"What?"
