I couldn't tell you.

Exactly what had changed.

In that moment.

I couldn't think of it.

I couldn't breathe.

Afraid of even a slight movement.

She bit down on her lip.

Looking away from me for a second.

Before saying.

"Sorry you had to see that.

Let's do something."

She offered.

I gaped at her face in shock.

She blew it off just like that.

Turning her frown into a smile.

Was she really going to pretend.

That that didn't just happen?

Really?

"Are you ok?"

I asked her.

Because it's the only thing I could think of.

She nodded.

And waved her hand at me.

Nonchalantly.

"Yeah, yeah.

Come on. Let's go skating."

She said walking to retrieve her board.

I followed after her.

Needing a real answer.

Because I knew she wasn't ok.

I grabbed her arm.

And faced her towards me.

Searching for the truth in her eyes.

She was good at hiding it.

Her face stoic.

Her eyes icy.

"Seriously.

Are you ok?"

I asked the second time.

And she cracked.

Just for a moment.

Because she quickly hid her face from me.

And she didn't answer.
