I approached her house.
And I could hear yelling.
The door was still open.

So I walked inside.
And down the hall.
Peeking around the corner to watch.

I'm sorry.
I couldn't help myself.
I was curious.

"Why?"
He asked angrily.
"Why won't you give me a chance?"

My stomach churned.
As I watched her eyes.
They grew cold.

"Because.
I'm not avaliable emotionally."
Her voice lacked something.

"For who?
For me?"
He frowned.

"For anyone."
She responded simply.
Turning her head away.

I watched my ounce of hope.
Fly right out the window.
As she said those words.

"So you would just
Use me like that?"
He spat.

"Are we through here?"
She crossed her arms.
And glared holes into his skull.

The guy was clearly frustrated.
He grabbed his jacket.
Swearing under his breath.

He turned into the hall.
Shoving me out of his way.
And stalking out the door.

I racked my brain.
Searching for reasoning.
But I couldn't cling to a thought.

She must have known.
I was there by now anyway.
I stepped out to face her.

I looked at her.
She looked at me.
And something changed.
