Why is it that everyone in every single story is 16 or 17? Usually these teens will be in their senior year of high school and because of that, apparently something 'bad' will always happen. It's almost like a Wattpad curse. Or, maybe people will bump up the age to 18 so their character is considered and adult. I honestly find it harder to write about high schoolers than actual adults. People never make their characters older than 18. It's almost like a limit. Try writing about someone in their twenties or early thirties! Don't be stuck at one age, get out of your comfort zone.
