Okay, first, irrelevant flashback, since I don't remember Raina's death and/or how she died being a significant part of the plot.
And second, why save someone just to kill them almost painlessly a second later? If I were Sparkle, I would have just left her to suffer and die painfully at the jaws of the alligator.
