Zeb didn't have a pulse.

He wasn't breathing.

At all.

They carried him onto the ship and took off into hyperspace.

They now had two patients to deal with.

Kanan carried Hera to the medic bay and called a medic droid over.

Ezra and Sabine got Zeb to the medic bay as well.

The droid examining Hera said she wasn't going to make it.

The lightsaber had damaged her heart. There wasn't a chance the droids could fix that.

Kanan fell to his knees, broken.

Sabine and Ezra cried and hugged eachother.

The only way she could possibly survive was if she was force healed.

Everyone knew force healers were almost unheard of.

Then they remembered.

Sabine could force heal.

"Y-you can heal her!" Kanan said, a small bit of hope coming back.

Sabine smiled and walked over to Hera.

Before she could begin to heal, the medic droid examining Zeb came over.

The shot had also hit his heart.

He had a 0% chance of survival. Nothing.

His only hope was a force healer.

Sabine couldn't heal both. It wasn't that simple.

Once you force healed someone to such an extent, you wouldn't be able to heal again for some days.

Neither Zeb nor Hera had more than a few minutes left to live.

They all looked at eachother.

They knew what this meant.

Sabine had to pick who she was going to save.

Zeb.

Or

Hera.

Sabine fell sobbing.

She couldn't decide. The lassat who had been her brother, or the Twi'lek that she knew to be her mother.

Ezra hugged Sabine tightly as he knelt down next to her.

Kanan didn't know what to say. He wanted them both to live, but...that just wasn't an option.

Sabine had minutes to decide.

The guilt would never leave her.

She knew that. Whatever her choice was now, would haunt her forever.

Chopper came in and looked at Hera and Zeb laying on the beds.

He beeped sadly as he watched Sabine make the decision on who she would save.

Sabine stood up and look between the two.

A tear rolled down her check as she softly touched Zebs arm.

"Forgive me." She spoke in a soft voice, barely a whisper.

She turned to Hera and placed her hands over her wound.

Ezra and Kanan looked down.

Sabine began to heal Hera, with trembling hands. Tears shaking her body.

Slowly Heras' pulse returned, and the medic droid said she would survive.

Kanan gripped her hand tightly.

Sabine turned back to Zeb.

The droid said it was too late.

He was dead.

Zeb was dead.

Chopper let out a sad cry and rolled away slowly.

Sabine lay her head down on the bed and sobbed.

She would never forgive herself for this.

Ezra wrapped his arms around her once more, and tried to soothe her.

Sobs shook her body.

She had let Zeb die.

She had done it to save Hera, but she had done it.

She would forever blame herself for this death.

As far as she was concerned, it was her fault.

Ezra wrapped Zeb in a blanket and they carried him to the phantom.

They flew the ship down to Lothal, and Ezra and Kanan lowered his limp body into a grave.

Chopper was more broken than anyone had ever seen him. He didn't even bother beeping. He didn't have the will to.

Sabine still sobbed, feeling entirely responsible for his death.

He had died to save her, and here she choose to save Hera.

They buried Zeb in Lothals dirt and then flew back to the Ghost.

Hera was just beginning to wake up.

Sabine knew she would have to face Hera and tell her what happened.

Sabine didn't want to even live anymore.

She felt entirely helpless and worthless.

Ezra loved her.

How could he?

How could Ezra love her after what she had done?

Yes she hasn't done it intentionally, and it would've been the same no matter who she picked, but she did have to choose who to save.

She couldn't believe that Ezra loved her.

She couldn't believe that Kanan hugged her, thanking her through tears for saving Hera.

What did she deserve to live?

As far as she was concerned, she was the enemy. She was the villain, and she would always believe that.

Well I'm crying. Oml. I read the last chapter of lothcatwillow88 story the darkness effect, and I was sobbing so hard....and then I went and wrote this. I can't. I can't find the words for an authors note 😭😭😭
