37. Nove Otto — Love & Friendship
Love is friendship set on fire.

To love is friendship set ablaze,
Exceeding it in many ways,
A match conjoined in Heaven's spell;
And yet, within this fiery bliss,
It somehow always comes to this,
That love burns out to freeze in Hell!
But friendship is a gentle stream
Whose thermal springs can still redeem
Each loss in friendship's brimming well.

A/N: The nove otto, created by Scott J. Alcorn, consists of nine lines. Subjects vary. Sometimes when more than one stanza is used, all rhymes in the 2nd stanza differ from the first except the c-rhymes.
