Mason Green

"Where to, Mr. Green?", my driver asked. "Home" I replied shortly and went inside my car. I slammed the door shut and my driver nodded. Hurriedly, he went to the driver's seat and starts the car.

What if what happened to Naomi before, happened to Jess?

With that thought, a rush of guilt ran over me. I am an asshole. I took a deep breath and held my breath. I exhaled slowly while counting. One... Two... Three...

I opened my eyes and remain calm. I grab my phone and unlock. I went through my contacts and stopped at a particular name. I pressed the call button and wait for her to pick up.

Naomi Winters

I stood in front of my mirror and stare at my humongous baby bump. I smiled while caressing my bump.

BEEP BEEP

My phone rang. I looked at the name of a person who's calling. My heart is racing when I saw Mason's name. I sat on my bed and bit my lips. Should I answer? I should, he's probably going to apologize. But what if he's not going too. ..and Mason hung up before I could answer. I frowned and stare blankly at my phone screen.

BEEP BEEP

Again, my phone rang. Without thinking any further, I slide to answer the call "H-hello?" I stuttered. "Hey.." Mason said in a soft tone. God, I miss that voice so much. "Wha-" when I began to speak, he cuts me off.

"Look, Naomi. I want to apologize. About this morning. I was so stressed about work and I thought—I thought the person who is calling me is the guy before who is really an assh—"

I chuckled. I sighed in relief "That's okay, I totally understand. And I'm sorry for turning off my phone just like that" I replied. "No, you shouldn't be sorry. You should be pissed. I yelled at you, for God's sake!" Mason laughed.

"Yeah, you made me cry for a solid 3 hours" I lied. "What? Seriously? Naomi, oh God, I am so sorry. I am the worst fake husband ever" Mason groaned. I couldn't help but laugh out loud. "No, you silly. I was just messing with you" I said in between my laughs. "You know it's not healthy for a pregnant mother to lie. It will affect your baby and she will become a great liar, just like you", he explained. I couldn't help but to roll my eyes.

"Blah..blah.. you nag a lot, grandma. You sound just like my mom this morning" I groaned. "Does someone just get lectured by her own mother this morning?" Mason chuckled. "Yeaa.. kinda. It's your fault" I smiled through the phone.

KNOCK KNOCK

"I gotta go, Mason. Talk later?" I asked. He exhales, "Yeah, talk to you soon" he replied and then hung up. I press the end call button and walk towards the door. I gasped as soon as I open the door revealing the face that I didn't want to see anymore.

"Drew"

"What are you doing here? I thought we're done the moment you called my daughter a worthless shit" I put my hands on my waist. "I'm sorry, baby. I was emotional that day. I admit I was emotionally unstable, I apologize. I miss you baby" he begged. I scoffed at the word 'baby' that came out of his mouth.

"You're unbelievable" I shook my head. "Please leave. Goodbye," I tried to shut the door but Drew stop me by slamming his palm at the door. I flinched at his move and he stepped into my house. "Drew, what are you doing? Leave or I will call the police" I grabbed his arm and begged. He laughed and yanked his arm away from my grip—pushing me.

"Drew!" I screamed and I fell backward. I felt my head hit something sharp and I blacked out.

"Where am I?" "Why is it so bright in here?" "What is that annoying sound, ugh" I furrowed my eyebrows. I feel so numb. Have I been sleeping and not moving for a long time? I tried to move my finger and I heard a gasp. "She's moving! Quick, call the doctor!", a woman sobbed. I heard some rattling sound and the door creaking.

"She moved her finger just now", the woman again says. I felt someone is touching my wrist, and I tried to open my eyes. I squinted my eyes since the light is shining right into my eyes.

"Where am I?," I questioned myself again, I tried to speak but my throat is just so dry, nothing comes out. A nurse gave me a glass of water to hydrate my throat and I gulped the water so fast. I didn't know water could be this tasty!

The woman who is worried about me just now is looking at me with a bright smile on her face. I smiled at her and my head throbbed so hard when I tried to remember.

"Honey, is your head still hurt?" she held my hands and a tear fell on her cheek. "Wh-who are you?" I asked, not knowing who she is. I swear, she is familiar but I don't know her. The woman gasped and cried.

The doctor comforted her and bring her out from my room, leaving me and the nurse. She gave me a reassuring smile "Don't worry, you'll remember soon. Just don't try to think hard, you hurt your head quite bad" she explained. I tried to touch my head and the nurse quickly stops me. She shook her head and mouthed 'No'. I sigh and put my hands on my stomach. I caress my stomach and tears start to fill in my eyes.
